I am getting disappointed because I spent hundreds of dollars getting a matrix infinity installed by Norcalmods....I copied Grand theft Auto Vice city onto a Verbatim Datalifeplus 4.7gb DVD+R. It copied fine. I put it into the ps2 and the red screen came up where it said to enter playstation 2 format or whatever. I went back and compared the copied disc to the original. (I used Sonic Record Now 6.) The only differences in the discs are the file system. It went from a cdfs(original) to a UDF1.02(copy) file system. What file system are copied games supposed to be in? All of the folders were labled in lower cased letters on the copy while the original were in upper case. I used a NU tech 8x dvd burner. Please try to help me out on this one. Also...while attempting to copy my Game Shark disc onto a cd-r with Record Now Max I got a disc read error. I tried my sonic software and I got the same result. I also tried to back it up on my hard drive with VIRTUAL DRIVE and the software froze. The disc is brand new. Are some games write protected? Can I break this " protection code?" I hope you can solve my problems so I will not have wasted several hundred dollars.

Hunderds of dollars?? Spedmetal doesnt charge that much for chip install and he does excellent work. Try copying with better media like Ritek dvd-r. Post the results.
BTW, GS2 can be very hard to copy, try blind read/write.

I spent $150 on ps2....$100 on install....$20 on shipping= $270(hundreds of dollars in my book)

I will try the ritek dvd-r media.....I heard that verbatim was just as good so i dont know if I had an install error or not

Well before it left here your console was working perfectly with Ritek DVD-R media, so unless something happened during shipping and a wire came loose or something, I would have to say its your back-up procedures and/or media.

@Lufcfan if your read this post please post a link to your site. I have given him the link a hand full of times and he claims he cant get on the site for whatever reason

Not sure who your source is but this statement is not true. ;)
Just to clear this up for you, use Verbatim brand for cd backups, and Ritek brand dvd-r for dvd backups. ;)

I believe they have dummy files with errors on purpose to prevent copying. If you have a FAT32 hard drive you can boot in DOS with CDROM support and manually copy all the files to your hard drive. Then use ISObuster to save the TOC info filelist.txt file. You can also try to extract files with isobuster and skip the files that error and manually replace those with your own dummy files. Then use cdgenps2 to import the filelist and create the image to burn.

Norcalmods, Could you send me one blank Ritek dvd-r in the mail overnight so I can see if that is the problem? I dont want to spend 54.00 on Ritek media if I had a bad install.

Im sure you could purchase less. Riteks are very cheap and very good quality media. Sped doesnt necessarily have to send you any blank dvdr's. Its not his fault if your using crappy media.

Overnight?!?! Right are you going to pay for the shipping on that? Your going to need them anyway, so you might as well just purchase them from www.meritline.com , or if you would like I'll send you one but it will just be first class mail. Also the install wasnt "bad" like I said it worked just great when I tested it here, so I doubt its the install. We give these suggestions on what media to use because they work, as well as the software to use (Sonic MyDVD isnt for data back-ups) if you fail to take this advice there is now way of telling what your problem is becase your doing things wrong.
