Hi all, I'm new here but I hope it's all right for you :D

There's something that bothers me... I've chatted with some guys in a video games shop and they told me that if you have an NTSC PS2 with a modchip installed, all PS2 games that you play with it will be in NTSC... even if the game is PAL

I'd like to know if this is true because you know that PAL games that don't have 60Hz mode have annoying black borders :( So having an NTSC PS2 would fix the problem ;)

Thanks in advance

Yeah, you can install colour fixes to chip installs which outputs all games in a certain format PAL/NTSC (i.e.: like the Messiah 2)

Thanks for your reply :)

So it's not the country of the console which is important... it's the modchip ok got it :)

Another question: if I have a PAL PS2 (I'm French so we have PAL hardware) can I use a Messiah 2 which plays all games in NTSC?

And also is this the only modchip that can do it? Are there others? And if I have a Messiah 2 how can I do it?

I've readen lots of posts about PAL-->NTSC converters... so they obviously don't have this kind of modchip... am I wrong?

Thanks in advance :)

I think you can do it with pretty much all chips, but Messiah 2 has the fix on the diagrams...

Do you know other chips that can do the same? (DMS3? Ripper V2 Gold? Matrix MXL2?) and how can I do it?

Thanks.

Just look at the sites. Take a look at the diagrams, and if it's available, it'll be there for all to see :)

What is written if it is available?

Sorry for bothering you... you may think I'm stupid but I don't know much this forum :o

Thanks

Ok thanks... but you can't tell me names of modchips that does?

I've done some research and I've found these features (Matrix MXL 2):
- NTSC and PAL , v9 and v10 ready
- Autodetect the PlayStation 2 version and region (NTSC ,PAL) - don't worry which country you are in

Ok but what does it mean? It means it works in both NTSC and PAL systems or that my games will play in the same video mode as the hardware? Sorry but I don't get it...

I'd tell you the names if I knew them, just go to ftp://divineo.com and look at all the diagrams and see, and study some spec lists. The quote is reffering to the chip will work on either PAL or NTSC - not what you want...

I've done some research in the url you gave me, but I don't really know much about soldering. I've found that the Blue Chip Universal and the Messiah 2 can do it (it's called NTSC/PAL colour fix) but that's all...

But the problem is I'd like to buy a modchip at divineo and they don't sell exactly these chips (for the Messiah 2 it's the V2) and for the others... I can'f find this feature. Maybe the colour fix is supported in all new chips, I don't know...

Please, can you tell me if the Matrix MXL 2 ftp://divineo.com/pub/Console/PLAYSTATION%202/MATRIX%20MXL2/ or the Magic V 5k6 ftp://divineo.com/pub/Console/PLAYSTATION%202/MAGIC%20V/ have the colour fix? It would definitely solve my problem ;)

Thanks
