View Full Version : Anyone make their own case?

When I first started to put my PC together, I decided that I might want to make my own case. Basically I wanted to take a cheap $20 atx case, strip as much as I could and dremel any other areas, then mount plexiglass onto it. But, time got the best of me and I slowly drifted away from the idea. Well, my next PC, which is pretty far away, I will make my own case, somewhat. I just wanted to know if anyone has made their own case, if so any pics? And not necessarily from scratch.

Also, since I don't want to create another topic for this question. Should I do the clear HDD window mod? If I did, it will be on one of the spare xbox HDD's I have laying around, so the risk isn't brutal. This is very hard to do, since a speck of dust could render the HDD useless. BTW, since my current 160gb hdd in my xbox is a WD, and the 8gb xbox stock drive is WD, I will just switch tops so my current xbox HDD has the clear HDD id successfull. It wouldn't make too much sense to put it in my PC since the caseing is not clear.

I have had a few dremel experiences and it is some what time consuming as you got to be extremely careful not to go overboard. :p
I did them for other people though so i dont have any pics. Sorry in that regard but give me an idea what you want to do.

If I can help with any Q's, let me know.

I have completely stripped out the entire case including all of the brackets and redone them to accomadate 6 hdds and 2 rom drives, and 4 fans.

2 of the 3 Ive done where mid tower cases. Full towers are best for this. That way you can add a second power supply for the lights and what not, and still have all the room you want for other stuff. This use to be my favorite pass time but i got away from it for a while as its hard to make any money for the time it takes to pimp them out.

Actually, I have a dremel and have done console case mods. PC is the next step for me. I didn't really have any questions though, just wanted to see what othe people on these forums have done. I searched the net a little for ideals and such.

Thats cool Quall, if i can help, let me know. ;)
I wish i would have got some pics now cause they turned out nice. I just do it on the side for extra cash. Like i said though, I havent done any in a while
simply cause it is hard to make any money at it. I'd be better off doing cars and trucks instead. :D
If I get ahold of the guys I did them for, I will get you some pics so you can see some of my work. Might even give you a few new ideas but really there isnt a whole lot you can do that you probably dont already know how to do anyway. Its all fairly easy, just time consuming. That and it requires alot of patients. :)
