Try this download this image (http://www5.eastgame.net/attachment/231/zip/469317_4234368.zip)
it's a tiny image of 80kb then reboot your pc and disable your optical drives. Unzip both files from archive.
Then mount image file DISC_1.mds 29.158 bytes using deamon tolls 3.46 and then play the game.

1. download this image (http://www5.eastgame.net/attachment/231/zip/469317_4234368.zip)
2.restart you pc and disable your optical ide drives you either use the bios to disable them or unplug them physically.
3.when windows boots mount the image in deamontools 3.46 (files you downloaded in step 1)
4.Start the game
So this would be a No-CD solution?

Doesnt work if disables in windows?
Yes, its working if you disable from Windows.
go to control panel ---> double click System ---> go to tab Hardware ---> device manager ---> right click your optical drives and choose disable
!!! It is not necesary to disable your virtual drivers (from alcohol, clonecd or deamon) !!!
After this mount the file from sgtshaft and thats all.
The game is working perfectly.
If you get some errors you need to clean starforce **** with StarforceClean.
After reboot try again to play the game.

I was try the method of sgtshaft. It doesn't work at russion version

In windows XP it doesn+t seem to matter if you disable the cd drives in bios.
Win xp overrides, so you need to pull out the IDE-cables inside the puter.

thx for the no-cd thingy...
however, im trying to find a way to use it but so you wouldnt have to unplug or disable the drives, but I just need to find where soldiers has the location of the cd drive written
i cant find it in the registry, and i know its somewhere in the soldiers directory (root i think, but not sure)
if i could find that then i could change the drive to ... lets say S:\ ... and then use the deamon to mount the file on S:\
then the game would think u installed it from S:\ and u wouldnt have to remove any drives
i think this could work, but like i said, i cant find where soldiers has written the location of the drive installed from

The 'crack' is not working for me either.
I am using windows xp. I removed the drives from the bios, but windows kept finding them, so I disabled them from 'device' manager.
However when I mounted the file into the daemon tools drive, and tried to run the game, i got the same error message = wrong disk or something.
I removed the copy protection using safeclean, rebooted, tried to run the prob, it prompted me for a reboot in order to complete the installation, and then I got the same error I was always getting... bummer

Different original CD origins may have different keys on the CD.

1. Uninstall any previous installation of the game.
2. Uninstall starforce; use starforce cleaner. (sfclean.exe).
=> One reboot. Turn off your PC and =>
3. Disconnect - physically; pull the ide cable from all your hardware based optical drives (cd/dvd/burners).
Disabling them in bios will not work with winxp.
4. Mount and install the game with Daemon tools 3.46.
5. Mount the DISC_1.mds image with Daemon tools 3.46.
6. Run the game => One reboot.
7. Run the game. => Enjoy!

Starforce is a nasty little copy protection system. It's a set of hidden device driver that are installed when you first start up the game. It's cleaner gets rid of the drivers.

If the next version, which will if Im right add new modes and multiplayer online, owns, I will definitely buy this game.

@MarsTheGod66
Yes. You are right. So I had to sit back and figure out what I exactly did. And I tell you I tried a lot of things which caused a hell lot of rebootings based on burned cd's on different cd/dvd drives. So when the the image came along I'm sure of that I tried three different things. The image with daemon on the installed game ("No disc"), uninstalling starforce ("No disc") and finally uninstalling the game and got it working through a fresh installation. All these trials with optical drives physically disconnected.
Anyhow - I hope you all get the game up and running.

Well, Im not so sure about that.. I downloaded Kill.Switch, :)
No warez please Tootzie!!
Heres some intresting info on starforce.
1. Starforce never even bothers to check toc, if there's data at all on the cd, atip.
2. Seems like blacklisting was done by checking if specific data is at the same time read from hdd when checking process is taking place. Ofcourse image file was at the same time read when vitual cd was checked - thus it never actually _specifically_ blacklisted alcohol/dt virtual drives, it was a very general blacklist... The fact that images mounted over lan passed cd-checks also fits well into this theory...
3. Starforce checks very very limited area of cd to get it's dpm and if dpm seems alrigh it doesn't ever bother to go farther. So seems like starforce developers felt overly safe having their low-level access drivers and thinking not even some MOST primitive checking is needed except dpm...
Maybe all my presumptions are crap wrong and it's just some strange bug produced by removing all files.
So here's what you do to get SHOWWII working:
Make image with starforce 1/2/3 profile, get dpm at low speed. Run your favourite iso editing software Ultraiso/Winiso etc. I used ultraiso. Now delete all files from the image. Click save as, save as bin. For reference, the resulting file size should be 68 208 bytes. Trash the cue. Now get original mds, rename the bin to original mdf. Now you have a mini image that's sufficient to make starforce happy consisting of original mds and mdf with all files removed... So starforce won't see that specific date deing read from hdd at the same time... Now do the usual stuff - unplug physically/disable in bios all ide cd/dvd devices, mount the image on alcohol/dtools virtual drive and it'll work.
Thanks 2 Madk9 nforce forum

Interesting thread that is, does that Zzzzz fella actually work for Codemasters or is he, as his title suggests, just some regular on the forums that happens to be friendly with the staff on the forums? Its clear from the tone of his responses that he is basically giving 'stock' answers to the peoples questions. Would be nice to read an official response from Codemasters concerning the Starforce Protection. Go find me a thread ;)
Anyways, concerning the CD Key thing. Well I dont have a problem with it. As people in that thread claim that their retail boxes didnt even come with a piece of paper with the CD Key on there. Also, by the looks of it, it appears to be a generic key for the US and Euro release anyway. I guess one of the other mods can close this thread or remove the link if they wish too :)

The Cd-Key posted on Codemasters is the same that I have, i suppose all of us have it.
ive had that before on a couple of games, cdkey found on a small advertisment piece of paper, of which some games didnt have one (american conquest fight back) was the game i didnt have one for, took it back to store were they pulled one out of another box and gave to me. Why they dont put it on the cd itslef of manual i dont know.

lol a good reason not to put it on the CD is mabey when you insert the CD and it asks for the key... if you didnt write it down - you would have to eject the Cd to get the key, which is totally pointless.... just a idea
Good things come to those who wait. After weeks of frustration and no patches your method (mini image unplug cdrom) is working!!! Thanx you all :)
I don't get why all these people are going through all this trouble to play the game without their CDs?
Isn't the whole point of a no-cd/crack to make your life easier without having to rummage around for discs? And now you're rooting inside your PC unplugging cables and rebooting.
I can understand some people who are just pleased to overcome starforce and who like to test and experiment. As for the rest? ;)
Hello!
with the 1.05 Version that mini-image workaround works perfect, but after updating it to Version 1.12 i get an "abnormal Program termination" just before the game menu finished loading...maybe the "control reboot" after patching is the problem...
Does any1 have the same Probs??? or im just too stupid :)

There is no need to unplug phisically your DC/DVD unit. This solution have been posted before, i think, and it works. Simply go to bios, and disable IDE controller drivers where are plugged CD/DVD units. Then, restart Windows, mount the fix in Daemon or Alcohol Virtual Drive, and start the game. That's all.

There is another way to use the mini image without disabling your drives. But it is a bit dodgy because you have to disable windows file protection.
Follow these instructions to disable windows file protection
http://www.updatexp.com/windows-file-protection.html
use at your own risk, but I have used it and works perfectly with all optical drives enabled.

do you really need to make an alternate start up image or can you use the emulation (rmps and stuff) from deamon tools with the original image ?
if so how did you make it ?
many thanx in advance !

I dont think its sf3, I think its VOBprotectCD 5 use the newest version of alcohol to burn it, that should do the trick.
Heys!
Need help.
I've disabled CD/dvd in bios and also disabled it in windows. I mount the image and start the game. Its stands there a while checking the cd and at the end it says "disk key error".
" The disk you entered does not correspond to the disk in the disk drive.
Make sure you use the correct disk key"
Can anyone please tell me what can I do?? DO i really need to unplugg the power from the CD too??
PLease help i really would like to play this game and its taking me my patience! thanks =)
(btw I've also tryed running "startforceclean" a million times)

hey man.well doesn't matter if you disable cd/dvdz from bios or windows.they HAVE to be unplagged
works this method with starforce on dvd ?
and how can i make a working mini image of the image.
must i make on dvd a dpm measure ?
use alcohol 120 to make a starforce 3 image.unplagg cd/dvdz and load the image to the LATEST alcohol or daemon toolz.then play.if it's on dvd?well i believe for this game it doesn't matter.
not all games play with this method
the game that i try is on a 4,6 gb dvd and on dvd i can not select the starforce profil the resulting mds file is 4 kb big an does not work.
when i clear the 4,6 mdf and save it as bin/cue an renamen as the same name the 4,6 image and trash the cue and take the mds daemon/alcohl says the image are invalid.
i believe that in the first page 1st topic it's the mini image you need to play the game...download the mini image and mount it on virtual drive.

Quite interesting method to beat SF3 with a mini image instead over LAN-
until now I always went with my original SF Games (or Game- Toca2),
but now I think I will try to avoid further DJing with my original CDs too-
only Prob is I can't think of an effective method to disable my IDE Drive other than unplugging its power (which is no option since I play on a Laptop).
So my question: Other than disabling WinXP file protection (which I think is very interesting, but I only want to go this far if nothing else works- why does it fool SF, anyway?), are there any alternative methods to fully disable your IDE Drives under WINXP(didnt find any in a forum search)?
Thanks in advance for any help!
I SEARCHING THE TOOL WITH THEN I CAN MAKE A DPM MEASUREMENT FROM A DVD GAME WITH STARFORCE 3
I seek a tool to make a dpm measurement as with soldiers and toca. I look NOT for the mini images. do I do so badly express myself? :( :( :(
well...you need alcoholer 4.1.it's a multiprofiler.select the alcohol tab starforce 3 protection and start alcohol(the dpm is high if you select sf3)when you make the image down to the right select alcoholer as prtection.that's all
oh sorry mate didn't see that you want to do it on dvd games.well don't know
dont work here!!!!!!!!!  ....with Win XP!!!!!
anyone knows where I can find another nocd????? an .exe file only...something like that.......
thanks!!
it's not a nocd crac an.it's a mini image.try doing what it is said and it will play
:D :D Hey this works great.Thanks. :D :D
on mg is a "backup cd" crack... worked ?

Has anyone gotten this method working for Gangland?
Either it works or it doesn't, well here it does not, sorry to say.
I appreciate your work and don't want to complain in any way.
But what is forgotten ?
Followed all your steps and it doesn't do the trick.
Downloaded the files, disabled the drives (made a profile which starts
without the drives, virtual is still there)
Mounted the image in deamon. When starting the game
it says: Game installed correctly, would you like to reboot now ? YES/NO
It does not help to reboot, after reboot start the game gives the same ....
And that's what it does, nothing more.
Deamon is on autostart/automount. So it should be there when wanting to
start the game. No sirree. It does not...
So what's there to be done?

Did you actually un-install BOTH the power and IDE cables for all DVD/CD drives? I was only able to play once I removed all cables. Disabling the drive in the BIOS does not work...
Thanks ender.wiggin for your reply.
See, that's what I mean, I disabled the drives in Device Manager, more not.
And that does not work. And really disabling the drives by taking off the
power and really remove the cables is too much of a hassle. I don't intend to
open and close my pc all the time. It would be different if I had a pc for
SHOWW2 only.
OK, this is clear to me and this provides no solution for me. Hope someone
finds out a way to make a nocd-solution which is like with other games.
I just want to play SHOWW2 via LAN with my son and wasn't exactly planning
on buying the game twice....
Still, thanks for clearing this up.

Hello. Well i have a question. Is this mini-image useful for any Soldiers version? I have the spanish one, and got much much problems.... only managed to run it once. And with the support of star****er.
Also another thing. Building my own mini-image, what will suppose? Isnt it the same than loading the entire (great) cd image? (.ISO) in my case.
Thanks, and best wishes.

It really was that easy to me...
WinXP SP2
2 SCSI-Drives (CD-Rom + DVD-Rom)
1 IDE Drive (DVD-Burner)
Soldiers of WW2 EUROPE-Version
- copied all files from the CDs to a temp-folder on Hard-Disk
- installed from there!
- installed soldiers-euro-patch-1.12
- installed soldiers mp-patch 1.28 (which is also a single-player-patch!)
- installed daemon-tools (never used it before)
- mounted the image-files (from this thread) as Drive-J (for me)
- reboot (required)
- started soldiers.exe
- entered the required EURO-Key
- tested the 1st russian-mission = NO problems at all!!!
- NO unplugging of ANY Drives or similar sh*t necessary!!! = still have ALL drives connected!
- oh yes... I afterwards DELETED all files from the temp-folder on Hard-Drive and it still works!
conclusion:
the reported INTRO etc. problems MUST have to do with installed video-codecs!
I only have ffd-show installed and really NO problems with crashes etc.
hope this info helps those who still can't emulate it properly...

Here's a method that i used without having to disconnect anything:
1- Install the game; however you want.
2- Use d-tools to mount the mini-image.
3- use star**** v.083 beta and click on "CD8 DEAKTiViEREN"
which disables your CD drives and do other things that i don't know; because when i disable them manually from device manager, it doesn't work.
you can download star**** from:
http://spacetarget.com/games/pc_protection_starforce.shtml
4- Launch the game.
Let's know if it works or not ?
I'd appreciate if u could tell us what exactly does this tool do ?

I just tried it and it worked perfect !!! thanks so much !
The hardware disconnection was relevant until those starfu ck and starforce nightware apps, this last one is in english and is available from here:

Hi everybody...i follow all the steps but when I launch the game the window of the checking disk appears and nothin happen....the window tells me that it is analyzing the disk and stop...everything block....sorry for my english..and thank you for your help
Try this download this image (http://www5.eastgame.net/attachment/231/zip/469317_4234368.zip)
it's a tiny image of 80kb then reboot your pc and disable your optical drives. Unzip both files from archive.
Then mount image file DISC_1.mds 29.158 bytes using deamon tolls 3.46 and then play the game.

@sgtshaft: Could you, please, submit the image to GCW so that people interested in it can download it even months later? Thanks!
