stupid f*ckers. The game isn't released yet!
So, its ok for you to start threads when you have sent in cracks to GCW for games that have not been released yet I take it?
From what I have read on respectable sites like Gamespot and IGN, some stores in North America are now selling the game.

Game was in some shops across USA from 30/07/2004
no... game isnt released in usa till 12:01pm on the 3rd of augoust across usa. Thats what the official id report says
Yeah, Luciel that was the offical store date in North America. But some stores put it on the shelves the moment it got delivered to stores. A small bonus for PC Gamers, I guess. (Game will suck, by the way. Mark my words)

The official release date is 3rd of August...
But some shops get it shipped earlier and start selling it sooner...
This is not the first time this happens guys, get real!

Well, I bought it from a gamestop. I have a radeon 9700 gfx card. Be warned, I have to play at 640x40 resolution with video quality set to normal to get descent framerates. And on normal, all textures look like filtured Doom 1 textures (at normal quality), that's right. Take jedi academy (q3 engine), set texture quality to low, add bump mapping, great dynamic lighting, and you get what doom 3 looks like on anything under a 9800Ultra gfx card.
Gameplay is pretty cool though, surprisingly.
Oh, and unfortunately, the game seems to crash every 15 minutes for most people I have talked to that has it. I probably won't be playing it until the first patch is released. My advice, save it for xbox if you own one. Loading times will be reduced, and it will be optomised for the xbox hardware, meaning, no crash issues and better than low quality.
runs fine on my GF4TI4400
my mate had the same crashing problem, and I;m fairly certain he was running a ATI card as well
/me wonders if ATI drivers are fubared?? naaa, their drivers are always ace!!! :D

I've been reading the exact opposite... The fanboys believed the hype over this one. Like I have been saying for over a year now on here. This game was nothing more then an engine demo from ID Software. You people fell for it.
Roll on Half-Life 2 :)
As all of you who allready have this game recognized the game is very slow even on new Computers.
I found out the reason for this and the solution to fix this problem.
As you already know after installation the game consits only of the doom3.exe and some .PK4 files. Those PK4 files includes the entire game (sounds, videos, textures etc.) in high compressed form.
Normally those files were decompresse during the game.
But this exactly is the problem. Even new CPUs are not able to decompress those files while running the game with good peformance and therfore the game runs very **** also on new computers. I don't know if the develpers of ID-Soft was just too stupid to think about this or if they have an agreement with some hardware manufacturing firms.
How to get around this problem:
It is very simple. Go to your Doom 3 installation directoy and get inside the folder "Base". There are some .PK4 files you have to open each of them with WinRAR 3.3 and extract their entire contents to the Base dir in you Doom 3 installation folder (replace all files if they are any duplicates). Now you have to delete all .PK4 files in the Base folder to prevent the game to use those compressed files agian.
Now the game starts and runs mutch faster!!!
Have fun playing Doom 3!!!
Maybe this helps? ;)
My game crashed as so as i do something in multiplayer... in singelplayer i just see a wall and then i crashes. i have radion 9600 pro 2700+ amd :(
Lol radeons seem to be having fun with doom 3, i guess u guys are gonna have to wait for the next radeon drivers, i for one love nvidia :D
My Doom 3 install and running have been flawless. I'm running a P4 2.4 with a nVidia FX5700 256meg ASUS video card (61.76 driver),with 1 gig ddr ram on a MSI 845PEMAX motherboard. Doom 3 detected the settings and I'm running it on High with the resolution being 800x600. This game is running flawless. I found this tech tip on a Doom 3 forum. Run the game at the same screen resolution as your desktop. eg. desktop (800x600)=Doom3 (800x600)
If you like first person shooters then this is the next level in graphics and sound. Yes it is the same old thing....but it is a FPS with the best quality graphics etc.

Have you tried the 4.8 beta Catalyst, apparently it helps.
You can dl 4.9 betas from Ati´s site ;):

i broke and bought it early runs great on my pc at 1600X1200 high noaa and no af.
athlon 2600 nforce 2 board 512 mb ram fic 9800 pro.no crashes or lock ups.

i've had no crashes at all.
playing it on a P4 3.2 ghz with 1gb pc3200 ddr ram, and a Geforce 4 Ti4800 SE graphics card
the graphics card is a decent one, but its letting me down here as it came just before directx 9, so its an 8.1 card. this means that if i let Doom 3 auto detect the settings it puts it at 640x480 with all the frills turned off.
but i put it up to 1024x768 for now, with AA on, everything else on and to the max, and it runs excellently.
might still go looking for a new card though
and i did think it was all hype but had to try it anyway. the graphics *look* amazing, but its not a great game engine. theres little or no interactivity with the environment. bullets do not leave holes or make marks. you cant shoot glass. i for one would be happy if a game engine looked a little worse but acted a little better.
as for the gameplay... well the old Dooms were fun and addictive even though they consisted of shooting everything that moved. thats not enough for games these days, but sadly some games come out that are still like this (i was playing painkiller this morning, and thats the last time i'll ever play it)
so far i've found Doom 3 a bit linear but im still in the 'setting up the story' beginning part. i hope it will open out a bit later. however you cant beat the atmosphere. i love the little things like you will see some ammo in a corner and go to pick it up, without realising its not a corner but a corridor obscured by shadow, where a creature is waiting to hit you with a wrench!
and things drop down from ceilings, burst out from under stairs, all sorts of things. made me scream out loud a couple of times, so i've got to say its worth playing
I dont have any problems here with Radeon 9700 Pro, also have 3.2GHz cpu and yes it is slow but hey what a great game. But no never crashed once, Yet!
And I will by trying that unwrapping the files thingy!! Sounds promising Thanx to karlmueller for writing it and to Luciel for bringing it to my attention :o

Unzipping the pak-folders do **** if you have 1gb of ram - below it's worth a try.
Ah, btw - unzipping ****s up multiplay! So beware! ...and reinstall!
