im having trouble i cant hear people online using my socom usb headset
i have a dlink dsl 504g router
So did I. The SOCOM headset really sucks. I think the problem isn't so bad in SOCOM II. Also, I think it's Logitech who makes another headset you can use- that would be better.

yea but that doesnt help me much
i need to know how to fix it
it aint my headset
sony tells me i have to have certain ports unblocked my isp tells me theres no manual configuration to open ports
Opening ports deals with your router. If you don't have a router and it's your ISP that blocks those ports (which I find unlikely since they only block ports that viruses are known to be sent over) then there isn't anything you can do about it.

I thought that you had said it might be the router. So i was saying just go from the modem to the PS2 and see if that works, But i dont think its the router, Some times Sony severs lag and you cant hear or talkat all. By thw way new stuff does break...lol
If I understand correctly, you're using an 802.11g wireless router, judging from the "G" in the router model you said, but it's one of those routers that has a DSL modem built in. I'm assuming this because D-Link doesn't make a router called the "504G". Since there is no modem on the other side (the router is the modem) you can't try what we've been calling "connecting directly into the modem". What you'll need to do is go onto your computer and open internet explorer. Type in the URL 192.168.0.1, and if that is not found try 192.168.1.1. This will open up your router configuration utility. Here you need to open up whatever ports Sony told you to open and save the changes. After the router is flashed with the new settings, it should work just fine. If you can't figure out how to use the config, or if there is a default password on the router, check the router's manual.
