I have tried using nero 6 & alcohol 1.9.2 build 1705 to back it up, I am using the same brand dvd-r's (verbatim) that I used successfully in the past. I haven't found any patches that need to be used for this game. I am also unable to back up big mutha truckers. Does anyone know if there is something I am missing?

Try RecordNow... What exactly happens when you try and back them up (error messages, stages you get to, where it errors out) etc...

They are backing up just fine, I don't get any errors at all, but when I try to play them I just get a black screen nothing ever loads, my other backups work just fine.

what verbatim disc's are u using datalife or datalifeplus, as i use verbatim all the time as u cant go wrong with them (so i thought) and i get them real cheap cheaper then anyother brand, but lately the datalife have sucked they back up fine but when trying to play them they just go to the black screen or they load but are so skippy, but the datalifeplus im having no probs with at all back's up fine boots fine and plays like the original so if u are using datalife that might be ur prob

Well here's my 2cents worth of advice, appearently backing up games that have a total disc size of more then 4GB is pretty bad using NERO, sometimes it'll give errors when it's closing the disc (During recording), but you'll still be able to see the file contents using your dvd writer (PC). Although sometimes It burns without giving any error message, it simply won't boot on the ps2 (it might just show the playstation 2 logo and the screen will be black)

How I get around this is simple using DVD-Decryptor to make an ISO of the original disc, and then use alcohol to burn it. I can't seem to understand why it will work this way, but heck it works fine for me all the time. You could always try other burning s/w and I'm not saying the ONLY DVD-Decryptor/Alcohol works great. I'm pretty sure other s/w will work fine too.

ps. I've got a friend telling me that using a DVD+R disc instead will also solve this problem. I've not really tested this yet.
