well all this starforce 3 has been bothering me with several games now and reading all i can on many forums has been really informative. i found a program that has pretty much all the settings in it that starforce 3 seems to have if you read the info on starforces site. im not a programmer at all so wouldnt be to sure but i found a crack for this prog "anti-crack protector"
and gave it a go and it does exactly everything that starforce claims to do.
i decided to open up the protect.dll file of my beyond divinity game just to see. if there is anyone out there that would have better knowledge with stripping a program down like acprotector to see how it all works would be cool to see these starforce trojan bastards put their foot in their mouths lol
anyways heres the link for that program

hello all,

I am a Cracker (For fun, I dont not condone piracy, I buy all my games).
And i have recently discovered that the file protect.dll, that is located in some StarForce games, is the culprit. I successfully opened the rd3.exe (Toca Race Driver 3 EXE File) and the protect.exe (StarForce Loader) Files in
W32DASM, yet when i go to open protect.dll, it displays a Windows XP Error Report message, I have also tried it on redhat 8, and am wondering if anyone knows of any references that are expressed in the games exe file, and the ASM coding for that, if you can tell me the exact offset, ill happilly attempt to make a fix for it, and will distribute it everywhere possible.
I hope this helps you and me to be able to play our legit games without stuffing up our computers,

Then your not a cracker, if you dont understand why the file was like that.

Its been wrapped, i.e packed with the protection, only way you will see the coding is with a proper debugger and quite possibly the original game so it can load and you can be able to dump the coding it unpacks.

Then it involves finding out the OEP, rebuiling the IAT and possibly fixing checksums and the likes.

The exe for the game is merely the loader to load the real exe which is contained in the dll file.

I'm no Cracker yet i knew why and DABhand said it correctly, don't try to flame back as no one here is interested in your skills or anyone's for that matter, keep it clean, thanks.

For all I know SoftICE is pretty useless nowadays as almost any protection blacklists it and has countermeasures against it. I think most real crackers have their own debugging tools that never gets released to avoid blacklisting.. I could be wrong of course but I think it gotta be that way.

Wouldnt matter I would outtalk you anyways :P

Do I have the skills? I just told you about the dll file and why you cant debug it. Any amateur cracker knows that info.

The reason for your error msg is simple, its the protections anti-debugger in action. It will cause a buffer overflow when a debugger is trying to debug it.

Also its compressed, so even using HIEW, Hackman or any other Hex Editor wont work.

You set a continuous loop and when the game is running in the background you can then dump the sections of the program and join them.

But ill ask a question, what is the OEP that I mentioned in my previous post?

He posted it 2 yrs ago! And yes he also joined then. You seem to have this knack of think you know all, even the forums which you have hardly been to! Grumpy is Mod here, and take a look at the top left of everyones msg, OMG A DATE! OMG WTF GG!

Cant see it unless your admin! LOL

And your lack of answer on a simple question, just shows you do not know anything of ASM.

Ill even make it easier

What is these OP's

JG
LEA
FLID

Really easy :P

Hmm, maybe Dabhand is correct, you really are an 'idiot'! lol

The date (and time) in the top 'left hand corner' of each post is infact the date they posted! ;)

The date in the top 'Right hand' corner of each post is infact the members 'join' date! ;)

u cannot actually see when he posted it unless ur an admin...........ahhh sorry but I am still rolling on the floor over that comment, thats a beauty, and possibly the 'dumbest' thing I have ever read on these forums!

And from an Aussie too, youve just single handly put all fellow Australians back 3 paces from the rest of the world! Congratulations :p

Grumpy now goes to wipe the laughter tears from his eyes........

Still its the biggest laugh this month ive had.

Unlike the WoW video of undead summoning taurens deep underwater, or the Machineshop video that will be a legend.

@3dmonkey3000: A real cracker doesn't boast with what he's capable of, he simply shows his already made cracks. And a professional cracker doesn't even visit this forum as it is a security risk for him (or her?!). Don't get more entangled into this fight, keep learning the art of cracking instead. Good luck!
