Laser Urgent Help Needed

I planned on cleaning the laser on a ps2. I looked up the guide and followed all instructions very carefully. One of the steps was to take the cd tray out so i did cleaned the laser and now i am stuck putting the CD tray back in. There are two silver ribbon cables that have to go in on the bottom of the cd tray. It is near impossible/impossible to get them back in. Any help on how to do so would be greatly appreciated.

wow thats an old cosole u may want to get access to the main board so u can plug them back in

I fixed that problem and cleaned the laser but no success. The console still does not read games. Does anyone know what model laser V2's take? Also it has an apple mod-chip i dont know if that matters.
