xbox version ???

ok i picked up a brand new xbox today for educational purposes i plan on modding it.
i hear there is a version 1.6 out well most mod- chips only say 1.0-1.5
my serial says it was manufactured in 2004/05/29 one site says real way to tell is open the box up. it's a regular xbox black v1.5? if it is a 1.6 will these chips still work?
i was looking at the xbit chip is this chip nice?
mostly interested in media player and minimum backup play.

use that when u open it up
the diff between 1.6 and the rest of the boxes are that the 4th lpc hole is empty
yea xbits reeeeal nice
good for 1.1-1.5
cant use it on 1.6
and its a bi*tch on the 1.0.. but u dont have to worry bout that
xbmc is good for media playing
and boxplorer for file manager
