I recently purchased the AR Max at Blockbuster. It is the version that allows online code updating. Has anyone successfully backed up the CD disk that goes with the card? I tried making an iso with Alcohol 120, RecordNow Max and Cdrwin 3.9g - to no avail.......

what he said he bought it from blockbuster I recently purchased the AR Max at Blockbuster.
i dont know about u but i never ever evea seen a vidoe store rent out cheat devices and i relly dout blockbuster rents them out cause i got 4 blockbusters around me and none has them for rent but u can buy new games from blockbuster so i bet u can buy new ar max from them as well and bisdes that if he rented it he would need the card thing for it to work so if it was rented and copied it would be no good w/o that.

Guess I overlooked that one, sorry :o

100 Lines on the blackboard - I must learn to read properly, lol :)

On a serious note, you can't back those up. They use chinese copying where the data verification layer is welded to the data layer to produce a disc which boots, but because of this, the TOC of the disc is entirely wrong and your drive will just crash out on it...

Thanks for the info. I am glad that you got the facts correct that it is a purchased item and yes, they sell them at Blockbuster here in Fort Worth. $19.99 plus tax.....

I am gonna try a Raw backup approach and see if that does anything.

There is nothin wrong with what he said. Unfortunately I dont think he will be able to back up that disc either. Good luck though.

Well, It can be done pretty easily,

1)create an image using alcohol 120%, with the settings (skip reading errors, fast skip error blocks, and read sub-channel data) ENABLED.

2)burn the image to disc using alcohol 120%, with the settings (bypass emf error, rectify sub channel data) DISABLED and write method as RAW DAO.

you should get a working backup, if you don't do let me know, I am looking to get rid of my Action replay Max Upgrade Disc (NTSC), I'm using a PAL machine so, I've got no use of it.

Cheers

Huh? One of the main points of m getting a Modchip is so i can get NTSC Games before they hit the Shops in UK, and i was thinking of getting an Action Replay Max, but that would be a PAL Disc....does that mean it would not work on my NTSC Games?

Well I am sure the older action replay version 2 allows you to enter both NTSC/PAL codes for you PAL Machine, I've tried entering NTSC codes using a PAL Action Replay MAX (And it doesn't work for me, although it might work for others - I've not heard from anyone regarding this yet).
