Hi,

I have just attempted to backup this game without success so I thought I'd ask for some help. I have used the search feature already but it only returned posts about installing cracks. I'm a bit of a perfectionist unfortunately and prefer to make working backups than install no-cd cracks/patches.
I used ClonyXXL v2.0.1.5 to scan the cds but it says "none, or unknown" protection (even after letting it scan the installed directory). I checked on GCW and apparently it has Securom protection. So I tried to read and write using the Securom profile within Alchohol120% v1.9.2 b1705. By default the read/write settings are at maximum, I attempted to reduce these but during the read/write process it appears my preferred speeds were ignored.
The game will install successfully. When I attempt to play it though, it will spin up, then nothing. No errors either.
I am thinking that perhaps this is a newer version of securom than stated on GCW? Is there any other way to check for the copy protection?

Thanks in advance.

Protection should be Securom 4.84.84.0019. You could try CloneCD and the Twinpeak method or give Blindwrite5 a try, or try to get a good BWA file...... Nevertheless the protection is hardware dependant....

Thanks for your help.

I have backed up the game with alcohol 120% v1.9.2 set to the profile of Securom *NEW (4.x/5.x).
Worked like a charm. Is there another CD Protection ID program that can detect these kind of protections? I seen CloneCD Database on GCW and gave that one a try but had a 'load data base' error every time I ran it. Maybe it was a corrupt download? Might try downloading again.

My hardware is AMD Athlon XP 2400+, 512MB SDRAM, Pioneer DVD+/-RW A106 with 107D firmware so I think it was just a copy method problem rather than hardware issue.

Oh one more thing ... I run the game from my Liteon JLMS XJ-HD166S (16x/48x DVD-ROM). Do only burners have the ATIP check?

Check the stickies.
