Hey all, long time listener first time caller!

I have recently received this error while backing up a dvd.

I am using CloneDVD2 Version 2.0.8.4

This is an original DVD that I own and not a backup.

Invalid block Start Code (PS 10 VOBU4 2022437 150 6TCE)

I continually get it at 93% completion. Now, this is in the ripping stage and not the burning stage.

I hope I gave enough info.

I have successfully backed up several of my DVD's already and this is the first error I have encountered.

Is this a standard error, and if so what does it mean. I have been unable to find any FAQ's in regard to errors.

Later everyone, and thanks in advance for any info regarding this error code.

I have just tried a different movie to backup and it's backing up fine. I am assuming that my original is bad. It's brand new, but will try cleaning to see if that helps. It's possibly just a read error.

I know you mentioned it is brand new but if you have any type of scratches or smudges it would cause it to quit on ya like that. If this is the case and you have access to an electric car buffer, put a small dab of either car polish or toothpaste on it and giver a buff. It will resurface the original and get rid of any scratches if there is any. This method is alot cheaper than going out and buying a disk doctor, and has been tested with great results.
Just an ole trick of the trade! :p :D It does work very well.

Not sure if this your error prob though. You could also be running into and over burn error which DVD Shrink would solve, if thats the case.

Another senario would be maybe the original is decrypted and wont let you finish in that regard. DVD Decrypter will help in that area.

Another program you could try is AnyDVD but I dont have any experience with that one. I have seen it referred to on here before though.

Hopefully some of this might help ya out!

Good info CGL.

I use Anydvd and it basially does everything for you. If you are already using some sort of decrypter I suggest trying another or at least the latest version of Anydvd. Because sometimes what doesnt work with one, will work with another.

Thanks TD! Actually you are the one who posted a mention of AnyDVD before and you recommended it to a few other members in the past. I just remembered that it had worked out for them. :p ;)
It pays to pay attention once in a while. It was once said," You just might learn something". As you can see that stuck in my CrAzy head as well.
Geez, the things us big kids pick up on these days. :D

@realmccloy, There ya have it bud! All you need to know about todays lesson on DVD back ups! :D Just kidding! Really this stuff should help you out alot though. Just try different programs for different DVD's until you get one to work and try to log your success so you can help others later. Stick to what you know first then switch if need be. Thats what works for me. ;)

Thanks for the input, I use DVD Region Free in conjunction with CloneDVD2 and that gets me passed any bumps in the road. The disk was just damaged. I took it back and got a new one, and was able to backup with no issues.

What really was insane about this disk was, side A was the directors cut and side B was the Theatrical verion. The Directors cut was choking at 67% and the Theatrical version was choking at 93%.

Talk about bad luck..HA. :(

I make a conscious effort to backup all my DVD's as my wife and daughter I swear use these things as frisbee's when I am not around!!

Hey, forgot to ask this, since I have you guys on the horn.... What I like about CloneDVD2 is it's simplistic interface. I only have three buttons to choose from..HA. But, one thing that I don't like about it is if I try to backup a very long movie it basically is just compressing it into one DVD. Now, I have given thought to purchasing a DL DVD Drive so I can backup lengthier DVD's, but opposed to this, what other options do I have. I do not mind having to switch over to a second disk as I have a SONY 400 Disk DVD Changer and I don't even have to get up to do it.

I am more concerned about quality. When longer movies are compressed with CloneDVD2 the quality is compromised.

Later all!

Ok, there are actually more things to choose from on CloneDVD. The basic ones are probably all your using. Remember you can check or uncheck certain vids within the actual dvd, thus opening up more room for better compression. Also if you can live without DTS Audio and other languages/subtitles that too will free up more space.

Keep an eye on the color charted bar. The closer that gets to the green the better.
