xvid 1.0.1 is the newest version.i have dvdx and works fine.try updating your codec

I have the same problem. I updated my codec, but I guess vidomi doesn't suppor it. It crashes whenever I try to use it now (with the xvid codec).

Anyways, I switched over to dvdx2.2. I have more control and it seems to be alot better. Anyways, I have everything set up, but I keep fetting this error message when I hit the record button:
Size splitting doesn't work in 2 pass AVI mode. Nevertheless you can split by chapters.
I have tried various settings, but don't want to lose 2-pass encoding (don't want to use one-pass). Luci, you ever get this error?

on the output settings where it sais "volume don't exceeds" put infinite.with 1 pass is god damn good

What the hell? People actually do their own DivX/XviD backups? I'm seriously shocked over that. I thought people only downloaded stuff in that format. Anyways...

Considering almost everyone in this thread is from either the PS2 or XBox Forum, surely you have access to DVD Burners?

I'm sorry, I really dont see the point in backing up with either of these formats
SVCD and more importantly DVD all the way :D

Also...

DivX/XviD makes Baby Jesus Cry.

i haven't used vidomi.dvdx is easy to use and has lots of features like full scree mode(makes dvd fullscreen without loosing anything)cut the avi to fit in cd's.

Luci

BW well i have a dvd burner ad lot's of dvd's but with divx\xvid you have more space.the final avi is only 650-900 max and it has a really good quality so in 1 dvd you can fit 5 movies.

Besides, I want to have all my movies either on my xbox's HDD to watch. Plain dvd format would be too large.

Luci

that's why i wanted an xbox :D
so i got 100 princoz for 45 Euros and finally won't use them for dvd's(as i wanted)but will use them when i get a dsl connection in about 2 months :D

Well, I juse used it. Took a little longer, about 9 hours or so to finish the 2 hour movie. My end result you ask? 149mega bytes of compressed audio. That's right, I must have messed up somewhere, because it only did audio. 9 hours for that? Goddamn that sucks.

I think I will do 1 pass mode, it will be alot quicker.

I vote for xvid. Bether sound and image quality. However, divx is smaller. and now free from Spywares. (version 5.2).
To bad there is not any xvid dvd player in sweden. Only dvdplayers that supporting divx. :(

so whats the vote
u cant use the latest xvid in vidomi
and dvdx apparently only does audio 8(
so..

quall what have you done an?i ttakes about 2 hours for a 1:30min dvd.what's your output settings?

Quall999

hmm, i dunno. it's 2 pass, so it takes a little longer. 720x480 resolution, 192kbits audio stream, quality set to 1 instead of the default 4. Those are all the settings I have that I think would matter. Target size is way up there, so that shouldn't be a problem. I only found and read one tutorial on the settings I have to worry about, and what they suggest to put them at, so maybe I missed something.
