Hi guys,

I just bought a nice-looking Dolby 5.1 headset (Azona HT-280) in the local Media Markt but then realized that - apart from its original home theater purpose - I can't try it with any game. Or can I?

Can anyone recommend me a PC game that has Dolby 5.1 sound output? Preferably FPS or racing simulator... :D I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 1, with EAX support, so it should be able to output all five channels! Thanks in advance,

Joe

I think Unreal Tournament 2004 and Far Cry has 5.1 output. Maybe even Halo too... Can't remember

I think most games have it. Jedi academy and unreal 2k3/2k4 for sure.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies. I have tried Call of Duty so far but it didn't output Dolby 5.1 sound and I couldn't find any option that would resemble something similar, not even EAX support helped, weird!

I'll try Jedi Academy, too, but I don't have Far Cry or Unreal Tournament 200x...

Call of Duty has perfect EAX support man!
eax1, eax2 and even eax3 is supported.
Don't know how eax3 is like (my soundcard--> upto eax2)

nah, its the worst EAX implementation i've ever seen.
enable EAX in COD and you'll suffer severe fps-losses. your fps will drop from 150 to 30...

try for yourself:
run a timedemo with only miles 2d and then with EAX, 2, 3.
you'll be surprised... ;)

hm never had any problems with the fps(I own the game before I got my 5.1 system, but I don't remember those problems) and my pc is not the best machine, but it surprises me sometimes...

Hi guys,

Apparently, the Windows 98 driver for the Sound Blaster Audigy I have does _not_ support Dolby Digital output. Because of DOOM 3, I installed Windows XP (as well, dual boot) and, voila, there goes real surround sound!

:D have fun I really grudge you now :p I won't buy DOOM3 or Half-Life2
my machine is 2 slow for that:

AMD Athlon XP 1800+
Windows XP Home Edition
Mainboard: MSI K7N415 Pro (NVIDIA, nForce board)
I disabled nForce via BIOS and installed a SoundBlaster Live!
Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
RAM: 512MB
DirectX v9.0b
G4 Ti4200

Hey KAMiKAZE,

If you wanna compete with me for the "slower computer" prize, I'm sorry, you lost! :D I've got a three-year old ABiT KT7-RAID, with a one and a half-year old Athlon 1000 and 384 Megs of SDRAM in it, and a two-year old Geforce 3 Ti500.

Though, I've been collecting money for those years to buy a complete new machine and give this one to my sister... :)
