K just for the record I have bought the game. My problem is that the dvd is scratching. It is not my dvd player cause I put in a new msi dvdr and it is still continueing to scratch. This is the reason and the only reason why I am searching for a no-cd. My question however is do software companies (codemasters) still offer a replacement cd at a reduced cost if urs is damaged? I know they used to, all u had to do was send the cd along with a fee and some 2 mths later u would get a new copy back. It just seems to me that the only ppl who are getting screwed out of this starforce 3 thing are legitimate purchasers. I also bought gangland which I had install probs with, which I was informed was probably due to the copy protection ( starforce 3) being encrypted throught the game and not just in the exe/dll. Perhaps in future it may be a good idea for game designers to include a copy protected no-cd patch in there games so to avoid damage. Surely it can be done:)
