how can i change the cd key in Painkiller without reinstall the game?

Try going through your registry looking for the painkiller entry. Use the search function (F3) and search for 'Painkiller'. That is, if you don't mind mucking around with your registry. If you don't like messing with your registry, just re-install. If you're concerned about save games, then find your save game directory and back it up.

Why do you need to change it? I find sometimes the gawd-aweful printing they use on the CD cases makes it hard to tell the difference between certain letters.

You can re-enter your CD key in the game's multiplayer setup menu.

Don't bother with the registry. Painkiller encrypts the key so changing it manually isn't really possible.
