It makes me wonder. We will just have to find out and see. I dont understand why they just dont cut the cost of making discs and shipping and make the sucker downloadable.
Tyler!
heh get u a good 250 or 300 gig hdd and install ever ps2 game on it and never have to carry all ur games around again that would be pretty cool
i wonder if you can install the program on the hard drive and not have to put the cd in all the time.
also where can i get it from
IT'S FOR SALE NOW at Divineo.com or Divineo.co.uk
I'm gonna have to get this baby! :D:D:D:D:D
So it's true that ps2 can't support HDDs bigger than 120GB.

Tyler!
it seems they release it as pressed disk and maybe they put some protection like action replay in there.

The maximum hard disk drive size supported by HDLoader is 120gb, and the minimum size is 40gb. I hope the disk will be in a format that windows can read it so you can tranfer to outher drives
it looks pretty nifty and it would probubley greatley increase the life of your ps2 also I hope it works well

Yeah but its only a preorder.
@khafan,
If they had that kind of technology then why didnt they make the disc a self boot?
Tyler!
Booyaaa! Looks like people with chips will be able to copy their backups to the HDD. Otherwise, you have to use the original disc.
@TylerDurden
well, they didn't say you need modchip to load it, so it should be a selfboot disc or maybe I'm wrong.
gamesmell

I did not see anything about it not self booting itsself
Actually im a little worried.
Cause, when I installed my HDD, my modchip didnt work. So how does that all fit?
Guess I gotta wait for more info.
BTW, is anyone pre-oredering? WHen is it released?

Maybe I read this wrong but I got the idea that he meant that you needed a gameshark to boot the disc. But it could mean that they used the same technology used in gamesharks to boot them and used that for this disc.

it looks very promissing to me i dont see why it would not work although thay sead there where a few games it dose not suport
from http://www.hdloader.com
The following games are known to be incompatible with HDLoader:
Biohazzard Outbreak
MX 2002
Peter Pan: The Legend of Neverland
Ratchet & Clank
As long as the GTA Series is compatible, that's all that matters to me... ;)
Is there an estimated release date ? Does anyone know?
gamesmell
25-05-2004, 18:50
acording to http://www.divineo.com the relese date is 2004/06/04
In the UK it is released on 21/06/2004 :)

I guess it doesn’t work with DVD9 games as well. This thing does seam kind of odd. I mean it would be great if it does work like they are claiming, but how does it patch the bios like a mod chip does, and does this loader remove the media checks? I guess we will see is a few days.
I'm thinking its not going to be a 100% non-mod chip solution. It would make sense that it would work the way they are describing in conjunction with a mod chip.

it dont not need to because the Hdloader disk would be what its checking
although you probubley would not be able to load backup copys with it without a modchip
something is wrong here, first they said you can't install DVD9 games and that Xenosaga on the screenshots is a dvdrip, now someone got e-mail from them that says you can install only from original disk, so how they installed that dvdrip? maybe they want to show it as a legal product. :)

we are starting to Speculate a little to much the onley way we will know how well it works is by waiting for it to come out and trying it ourselves

Maybe the Xenosaga they show was from an original disc.
Plus what does it matter if the disc is from original or not?

hmmm...well that doesn’t sound too promising, any way I have heard of other people emailing them with questions (Shadowknyght) and not getting any reply back.
I didn't get a reply either... :(

Have you ordered yours yet Lufc?
Tyler!
I emailed them guys, and got a reply. Took about three days though. I actually forgot I sent them a question
No, but I am in the next couple of weeks...
Sounds pretty cool.....but .....ever the pesimist....PS2 games are designed to be booted up at ps2 drive speed. Look at the mess the ps2 makes of some ps1 games when u turn the ps1 drive boot speed up. Still....If its as good as they claim.....

i agree with tyler here.. ps1 games are so outdated.. you can get basically the same game but with beter graphics for the ps2. and if you like old school games then you may just buy a nintendo or sega
I have one question about this.. why the hell do they make ppl buy it? it is unoffical. they should have just made it downloadable and free.. save them the costs and worries of returns!! anyone know?
is it illegal to d/l this? since its not copywrited by $ony??
HDLoader is on the IGN too, it's getting famous so fast. :)
