I don't have TCSLA but are you using a nocd.fix on your desktop to start the game. Even though you have the game loaded with daemon tools I wouldn't use the game screen to start the game after you load with daemon tools. Click that game screen off and keep loaded with Daemon tools and use the desktop icon (a nocd.exe/fix) to start the game. See if that works.

hm. windows 98...
i hope u'll find an answer but first get rid of 98 ;)
sure? the newest drivers ?
directx? detonator? maybee 4in1 or something else?
win98 is "very" old and produces incompatibilitys which winxp probably kills

I got it running on w98se, havn't got nvidia card tho.
Here's what i've done, i did not invented this, i got info from other posts in fileforums and constructed this 'manual' lol.
U can do it other ways but let me just tell u how mine install did go.
1. Burn Disc's with CloneCD 4.3.1.9 'Protected Game' mode. (or higher version)
2. Installed game from cdr's, remove the disc's from cd-roms.
3. Used the latest Deamon tools 3.46 to mount cd1
http://www.daemon-tools.cc
4. put Deamon tools 'Emulation' to SafeDisc & after that the deamon tools icon should be green next to your clock in the taskbar.
5. Uninstall CloneCD, now if u have the newest clone cd uninstall will not be needed so i've read, but if u got the mesage 'Cd/DVD emulation software detected' thing u must uninstall clone CD. (or other out of date emulation software)
6. Run the game & enjoy (i didnt enjoy btw :D)
Other way is (that i didn't do) without burning is to mount all discs CCD files, install the game & unintall all out of date emulation software. (even registration info, like with CloneCd uninstall, just to make sure)
So i'm not claiming this is the best way, but the way it works on my w98se machine.
that ^^is exactly what happened to me.i did everything absolutely as you did, and i got the same error, can you check whether yours is also creating an error in some bogus temp file (~something), can't remember the name right now, anyway until now i thought that it was because of my cd, but maybe it is 98se, i'm running it too.i'll try it on my xp and get back to you
i just tracked what happens when i start the game and this is it:
when i start the game, it automatically creates a couple of files in windows/temp directory and one of them is the one that causes the game to crash.it seems to me that that file might a part of the protection system.or not :)
I had the same problem - use the newest alcohol version, the newest! and then mount the cd1 image. it works! cd1 didnīt must be burned!

Thanks to all of you for trying to help me but i've tryed everything u guys said here and couldn't solve my problem. Is it really necessary to upgrade to win XP?? I don't like it, i think xp is too heavy for my pc. I think i'll just wait for the crack (if it realy will exist one).

Thank you SlutHammer for your instructions. I have only begun to play the game but it seems pretty good so far. I've encountered a few bugs but I'm sure they will fix them in the 1st round of patches.

This error is possibly due to a bad rip of the game unfortunately insane_integra. If you used Clonecd to rip your copies did you use CloneyXXL as well?

SlutHammer's instructions worked for me but I did something a little different so this may or may not help.
1. Buy tha game :( No, really get the ISOs
2. Mount cd1 using Alcohol 120% << I'm using ver. 1.4.7.
3. Install game using ISOs mounted to a virtual cd-rom drive.
4. After full installation de-activate the virtual drive function in Alcohol 120% << Just put the number of virtual drives = 0.
5. I then installed Daemon tools program << quite nice BTW.
6. Do as sluthammer instructed on step number 4 put Deamon tools 'Emulation' to SafeDisc & after that the deamon tools icon should be green next to your clock in the taskbar.
7. I took a wrong turn somewhere so I came to the boards for help. At this point I had to uninstall my clonecd << kinda crap but it will do until the nocd patch is made. I rebooted for tha hell of it and Viola! It worked, no problems. I hope this helps all my fellow pir8s.
Game on!

Hey Utzenflatz, please, keep your wise "win98 sucks, use winxp instead" comments for yourself! It doesn't make you look smart at all as Windows 98 is working very well if you know how to maintain it properly! (I do.) Thank you,
Joe
i agree with joe tottally, and i rlly cant be bothered for all those steps ill just use my originals and hope a crack comes out

here is how to get the game to play. first forget bout the cd 1 u burned it wont work. if u have cd 1 in ur cd rom drive u need to take it out cause the game wont run off of it. u need to load the cd 1 clone cd image file in daemon tools with no emulation. once its loaded it should autoplay so just click play when the game menu comes up and the game will run

Hmmm, it's pretty amazing how self-procalimed nice people get pissed off just because someone re-states the forum rules that they should've already been aware of. Sorry, buy the nice streak your talking about lasted 3 posts. I just don't see how that is, in any way ,disrespectful. What i do see is an angry poster. Of course, as you aked for no reply, i am sure i will get one. So i'm not going to bother to ask. Just relax and wait for the crack. These guys are pros and THEY don;t need you disrespecting their hard work that they DO FOR NOTHING JUST TO HELP PEOPLE!

hey sole tell me this,
wut part of ash 2 dust saying buy the game, tells of any rules?
i asked some 1 to show me how to get my stuff working.
he said,"buy the game"
that was a smart remark.
so i dont think i was mad with any 1 saying the rules.
fact is i didnt break any rules.
i said nothing of any game names, hacks, share files,or that type.
all i was saying is i dont go around saying smart stuff to people for no reason.
i think i have the right to ask for help in peace.
so yes if some 1 is being a ass to me for no reason.i will show my dislike for it.
oh and **** you...
