Hi I have a Ps2 that I bought on release day so its a version 1, its a scph 30001 model U1 with 10 screws at the base, so what I wanted to do is get a new Ps2 so I can install a modchip to it and play backups since I have a Dvd+r and my Ps2 doesnt read those. Where should I sell mine and how much ( the front part of the cd tray its a bit loose because of the gameshark swap trick ) ? And where should I buy one, if I can get one modded then much better that can play Dvd+r backups as well. Thanks for any reply.

Sell it on eBay like mine. See it for an example here. (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8105135992)

For how much should I sell it in american dollars? And where can I get a Ps2 that takes dvd+r and modded if by any case? If not Ill get it later the modchip, thanks for any reply.

Well on Ebay you really cant set the price. Itll go on what people wish to bid on it. Usually ps2's sell for just under what they cost brand new.

Id suggest cleaning it up and not mentioning anything about what version it is.

What I meant at what starting price should I put it and if I should put a Buy it now option and if so what price? And if I should mention that I bought it on release or just write that its old and I don't use it anymore but it still works great? Thanks.

You can start off at any price. $1 tends to get people to look at your auction more often. As for Buy It Now pricing, I would do a search for PS2 consoles and watch the next one being sold. Wait till it ends then make your Buy It Now price a dollar or two under that.

And where can I get a new Ps2 and what modchip do you recommend if I want to play imports and backups? Or where can I get a modded Ps2? which of the two is cheaper to get a new one without a modchip or modded? Thanks.

Ichiri,

I think it's a safe bet, if you are intending on buying the latest version PS2 with a mod chip fitted it will cost more than one without a mod chip.

As for the other questions, as Tyler said, just use the search button at the top of the forum, type in a couple of choice words, for example "new PS2" and see what results you get. The answers will be somewhere in this forum.

Personally I would find somewhere local to buy a new PS2, then search out someone to fit a mod chip for you.

You won't get anything as it doesn't accept anything under 4 characters long, so useful phrases such as:

PS2
Mod
DVD
CD

etc... don't work. It's a god annoying 'feature'...

I checked norcalmods.com but this is wha it says on the shipping "Sorry we will only ship to the continental United States so this means only people in the continental United States should consider this service." The problem is that I live in Puerto Rico , do you know any place that ships to here if I send to mod the Ps2? Thanks.

seaneyb2003: I have no idea where it is either, I thought it was somewhere south of USA. But according to Multimap there are a few of them worldwide.

lufcfan: I didn't know that (obviously), good know not to waste my time bothering searching. Sorry about your team :o( (they'll be back next year)

Ichiri: Why don't you send an email to norcalmods.com and ask them why they can't send to Puerto Rico? I'm sure it's probably some bizarre political reason behind it, but you never know, they might be able to suggest someone who does.

EDIT: sorry it took me ages to type this reply

Couple of question again: this will be the last ones because after this I'm buying one. I'm buying a premod rather than getting a Ps2 and buying a modchip in another place and then sending it to install. So here's what I'm at right now:

1. In norcalmods.com they have "Purchase a brand new V9 or V10 PS2 pre-modded with a Magic V for only $240. This package is a brand new online bundle including the network addapter, ATV offroad fury 2, one controller, all cords and cables, manulas and of course the original box. This price also includes return shipping."

Is the Magic V good? Which Ps2 version should I choose?

2. In precisionmods.com they have "DUO MODIFIED PS2 (V7/SCHP-39001). All pre-modified Playstation units are fully tested and include a 90-day guarantee on original PS2 parts. Duo installation (i.e. wiring) is covered under a ONE YEAR warranty. Units are brand new. Pre-modified units include one PS2 dual-shock 2 controller, one power cord and an A/V cable."

Is Duo good?

Now onto the general questions
Which one of the two Ps2 should I choose? One has the network adapter with a game but the other is cheaper (Duo) (plus mostly what I want is to play my backups and some imports), amongst other things. Another question is if both chips can play a cheat device like action replay? (I would like to use the new action replay max that has some cool features)

So if anybody can answer me these I'll be very thankful because I can make my decision, thanks for anyone replying. :)

If you want the newer one, go with the Magic V V10 - but if your not bothered, go with the V7 Duo. If you go with the v10, make sure the 'Romeo' mod is done (but I'm sure Spedmetal does that stuff anyway). Oh, and BTW, they can both play Action Replay discs...

Well I bought from norcalmods a premod magic v, great comunnication and all, but I was curious, how do I boot backups and imports? and from psx as well. Do I just insert the disc and it boots? Thanks everybody for all your help.

Ps2 backups and imports I'm pretty sure you just put in and on they go. I'm not sure about PSX however...
