What is the best Method to make a backup for the PS2 ?
So far I made all backups using Clone Cd but I experienced some problems though.
My systems:
>TB 800@1000, WinME, Brainwave BP 1300 (12x Write Speed, latest Firmware), Pioneer DVD 115
>Playstation 2 German PAL, Neo 2.2 + DVD Region X
Method to backup:
>Reading: Clone CD > Read image with the Brainwave BP 1300 (fully compatible with Clone CD) > Reading Speed max (sometimes tried with 2x) > first 3 settings activated ( sub channels & abort at error)
>Writing: Clone CD > Burn from image > using speeds 2x to 4x Burn Proof activated, always close last session
The first two games I backuped I burnt with max speed. These Games work better than the other 2 I burnt with 2x and 4x speed. All the games are louder than my original game discs.
It's not bout the CDRs I use, I already got some
Verbatim Data Life +.
Then there's another thing bout the backups made with 2x and 4x speed (Extreme G Racing and Bloody Roar 3):
EGR: in the second stage the sound starts looping in the 2nd round, after finishing the stage the game stocks for 1 or 2 seconds. Before and after that I couldn't recognize any errors so far.
Bloody Roar 3: after booting with EA method, the Hudson Logo appears normaly, then the screen freezes loads freezes, this all comes with heavy reading from my DVD-Rom in the PS 2. After a minute or so the game goes on without any further problems and you can play it, it just sometimes loads longer between some stages during that loading time you can hear the drive having problems reading.
Next thing I did was to call the #####r I got my PS 2 from, he also installed the chip. He told me that this would be a regular problem coming with clone cd. He says: " Clone CD was good for making copies of PSX games for they had copy protections which clone cd just burnt, too. For the PS 2 you don't need clone cd cos the games are not protected."
Then he told me that he would make all his backups using CDRWIN making 1:1 copys without patching and anything and he's always booting with the EA method (holding down the reset button after inserting dvdrx). He said this would make much cleaner copys and the PS 2 don't has any problems with this backups.
The reason why I'm telling all this is that I'd like to know whether anyone has experienced same things, especially on a German PAL PS2 and generally whether people use that 1:1 copy. So far I alway read the image with my writer to the HD than wrote it from there.
