first copy the atad.irx file from game disk to hdd, then open it with hex workshop (http://www.bpsoft.com/downloads/index.html) , goto Edit -> Replace,
set the "type" to "hex values"
Find: D0FFBD2700210400FFFF8430
Replace: 211000000800e00300000000
press ok, in the next window choose "find next" until you reach the 6th entry(the offset for 6th entry is F7C), now choose "replace". save the changes to atad.irx file.

make a iso from game disk with dvd decrypter and open the iso with cdmage(V.1.02.1B5) (http://cdmage.cjb.net/) , browse to folder that atad.irx file is located and right click on atad.irx and select "import file", then browse to place that you saved the patched atad.irx file and replace the file, now exit the cdmage without need to save and burn the iso.

Now you should format the hdd with dms hdd format tool, you can get the tool from dms3.com but you need build a image from the files, here's the image that works for me,

Can people confirm this working? If so then this deserves to be put in the UIS listing.

It's about one week that I worked on installing RE:O on non sony hdd, it works great if you patch the file correctly.

Ultimate Info Sticky listing.

As I dont have a hdd nor intend on getting one soon. Ill wait for others to confirm this. If others post that it works then Ill put it in there.

Might seem like a stupid question, but WITHOUT DMS3?

That's pretty cool! :D
But, if you don't mind me asking, how exactly do you format the HDD without the DMS3? Can you still use the DMS3 HDD Format Tool?

Thanks...

DMS HDD Format Tool doesn't need a dms3 chip, the dms hdd explorer needs dms3 chip.

Hey! I formatted it and works great. Just one little question, anyone know where I can possibly find some 3rd party browser software, or anyone know how I can switch game saves from HDD to MC and back?

So this indeed works huh? That great. Ill add this to the UIS soon.

Do I just burn the dms hdd format tool image to a cd and stick it my ps2? I tried that and I'm not getting anything? Thanks, Matt

I burnt it on cd with nero at lowest speed (4x) and it works.

@Lufcfan
I do know that codebreaker v9.0 allows you to transfer games saves to and from HD's to MC, MC to Flash device, and any combonation of these. I however don't know of any 3rd party browser that will do this.

@all
I have successfully formatted my PS2 HD with the DMS HD format tool and I don't have a DMS Chip. I did burn the image at a low speed though.

Question: do you need to install RE:O on a fresh DMS Formatted Harddrive??? or can I patch the .iso and put it on my PS2 HD via Winhiip with games installed already??
