playstation 2 laser swap question

i have a scph 30001-r the laser is good but my friend has a scph 30001 but no -r at the end can i give him my laser out of my 30001-r for his 30001 model?

i read some were that R laser are dif from Non R lasers so i dont know if it would work u could see if noth lasers look the same then u would know for sure

when you do it youll have better luck if you make shure to disconnect the lazer at the mother board and put it in with the ribbon cable still atached and you will have less trouble with it

they were slightly diffrent but i did a complete swap of the bracket and laser and it worked thank you for the replies.
