I wasn't aware WinXP could search for strings inside of files, much less binary ones. Definitely try using a hex editor for this sorta stuff instead. :D

yeah, XP sux right now. i'll use a hex editor.

a tool to do this would help, too.

Win98 can.

WinME can, too. and i must admit, XP is a little more stable that WinME. since winme has a tendency to crash explorer and make your taskbar icons disappear. i haven't experienced that with XP yet.

back to topic.... i'm sure theres an app that can search correctly in XP. i'll look for it.

did you make shure to enter it in the box marked "A word or phrase in the file" not the box marked "All or part of the file name"

Start>Run>cmd
now lets say your .BIN files are in C:\Bins (folder)

in dos prompt type: cd C:\Bins
once there type find "CD001" *.bin

gamesmell of course we did...
stupid xp

Right-click a program (e.g. binhack.exe) choose properties then click on the compatibility tab where you can change the compat mode.

Say, wtf... you don't need to run bin2boot and stuff in any compatibility mode... I've been using all the common DOS tools (echelon kit, bin2boot, ipbin4win, cdirip, many more) in an XP DOS window on my desktop... no problem. :P
Of course, the idea is to open a DOS prompt first, then type out the commands - not doubleclick on them from Explorer. :P

when i was selfbooting dreamcast games i used to use Xfind (www.gbasaves.info/djgarf/xfind.rar) to find out which files have cd001 in them :)
i have provided a batch file in the rar just add these file to your selfboot directory with all your other selfboot tools and name the folder with your cd files in data then click the batch file and it will list the files u need to know :)
also grab this quick as i doubt it will be available to download for long

i never ever made a non selfbooting game
selfbooting since i use xp i donīt know which
tools are working and which not.

the ultimative way is to parition your harddisk.
one parition for me, and one for xp.

google for it, you find many guides to get the
compatibility with this way.
