I have a V4 PS2, I heard that the best modchip for this PS2 that is actually still being made is the Duochip.

I have three questions

1. Can this chip boot everything with no swap? Thats really what im going for in my choice of modchips.

2. Is this chip reliable for a V4? This chip hasent been known to cause problems or break down often has it?

3. Will I be able to install and use a HDD in my ps2 with this chip in it?

I read the sticky threads but coudlent find any info on the Duo chip or using it with a HDD.

if you can turn yur chip off you can use the hard drive, but you cant use it with a burned game (OG only) and in order to play a burned game you have to unhook the network adapter from the hard drive or it wont load up. thats how it works for me anyways. im gonna get rid of my hdd because i simply dont want it

Ugh!

I dont mind disabling the chip but I do NOT want to unplug the harddrive, does this happen to everyone?

And can the Duo chip be disabled?

as far as i have heard you need to unplug the drive to run backups
but you can run the harddrive and the FF original and be able to play online if you turn off your mod!

exactally. right now i can only use my hdd to play ff11 i hate the fact that you cant run backups with it plugged in. i dont even bother screwing the network adapter in, i just pop it on and off when im playin final fantasy 11

This is strange

Why do I need to unplug the HDD to play backups? What happens if I leave it in?

And nobody answered if the DUO chip supports turning it off.

i think the hdd in protected and doesnt go along with the mods
because of the bios modification the mods does to enable your ps2 to play backups...
thatīs just what i think....

anyway.. what i am going to do is get another ps2 to play online games.. and thatīs it for the damn HDD:cool:

We have decided to release a 2.0 flash instead of 1.9, which has added features as well as the DVD-r boot fix. We are in the initial stages of testing at the moment. The following features have been added:

*Configuration menu (acess by pushing L1+L2+R1+R2) during boot sequence.
You can turn on and off different boot functions and view version data here.

*USA HDD support
We're adding support for the newly released USA HDD

As promised we've also resolved the boot bug from Standby for DVD-r. We'll release the flash just as soon as we've tested it thoroughly

The problem with the DMA3 chip is that

1. I dont know if itll work in my PS2, its very old

2. The chip is very expensive

3. I cant find a modding place that will install it for under $100

I have some questions regarding your post. Hope you can help me:

1. Is there a Adress where i can get the newest Firmware for the DMS3 Chip?

2. How can i examine what ver. of Firmware my chip has?

3. Do you have a tutorial (or know how to get one) of how to update the Firmware?

Thanks for help!

#21.
