Pls someone shed some light on this topic.

I have a PS2 pal v 3 with messiah 2.

I been trying to back up games in the last two days, but with mixed results, most being bad. :(

I've been using RecordNowMax and Nero 6 on my Pioneer A06, media Ritek G04, two types, the printable white top and Traxdata 4xspeed.

Okay most tutorials say burn image at min speed. So that's what I've been doing, but only managed 2 from 7 games to work flawlessly. The others don't work to well at all in my machine, you know they just spin and come with a disc error, have to load about 5 to 6 times, if I'm lucky.
Yesterday I burnt a game at speed 2x and it work okay, there was a couple of stutters, but it loaded in the PS2.

Okay the obvious is that my laser is bad, but I can play others copies that I have got from other people, no problem, they play like original's. The media, well I thought Ritek is suppose to be the best for PS2 backups, plus as I said I have managed two to work very well.

So it must be my methods, either program or burning speed. Should I be using another program or burn even at 4x speed

Pls someone out there with more knowledge on this subject HELLLLLLPPPPP!!!!!

Cheers in advance

I use RNMDX, I read at min but usually burn at 4x. Some members say they get better results burning the hi speed media at 4x. Laser is probably getting weak also.

Cheers for the reponse!:)

Please tell me its not a laser problem!
Are you sure, due to the fact that other copies are currently working, just the few I've done, in the last few days give me problems. Like I said, maybe Im going wrong somewhere.

Well, if thats the problem, Is there a way to test the PS2 laser,to see if needs replacing and also whats the best way to clean the lens.

Anyway, in the meantime will try to burn one at 4x speed. Let you know the results.

Cheers

Play a game such as GTA which needs to load the textures quickly. If the road dissapears or the textures are generally slow to load, then you have a laser problem. If you don't have GTA III/V:C then switch on PS2 and if it enters Browser Screen before booting, then your laser is probably knackered. Hope this helps...

Well, what do you know

I burned 3 games again at 4x speed using RN max, and its all good. They work like a charm, I hope that was the only problem, much easier than changing the laser. I think laser is fine, all games, back up and oringinal load right away.

Cheers :)

By the way, what the best way to clean the PS2 laser??
