I am trying to make some DVD movie backups and I am having issues. I am useing DVD Shrink 3.1 and CloneDVD2. I have also tried using DVD Decrypter3.1.7 and Nero 6. I have been able to make a copy of a movie on a DVD+RW, but it will only play in my DVD+/-RW Drive. I have tried to use DVD-R's and the programs spit the disk back out.

I want to be able to make backups that will play in my DVD player and other DVD drives/players.

I have a TDK 440N DVD+/-RW burner and my DVD player is a Panasonic DVD-CP67.

Can anyone help me figure out what is my problem and how to fix it? Is it Certain settings or the correct software configuation?

thanks

It's known problem of TDK 440N burners, you need to update your firmware, here you go:

Thanks Khafan. I updated my firmware, but unfortunately Im still having the same problems. Of course it probably is operator error, but I am trying to figure this all out.

I used the guides posted at doom9.org, but still nothing. I also tried the combination of DVD decrypter, then Nero Recode2, then Nero Burn. This didn't work either.

Could it be the settings I have in the software? Are there any more guides out there I could use that might help me fix my problems?

well, people in this thread successfuly solved the problem by updating the firmware,

the combination of DVD decrypter, Nero Recode2, Nero Burn should do the job and as far as I know there's no setting in burning programs that don't allow you to burn a dvd-r.

Well Im getting closer.

I figured out part of my problem. I had Roxio's Drag-to-Disk program running in the background and it was preventing me to close out the disks. That is why I could only play the copies in my DVD+/-RW drive.

Now I can play them in my other DVD drive,

BUT I still can't play them in my DVD player. The player won't read the disks. I looked up on DVDR Help and Panasonic's websites and they both say I should be able to play DVD-R's and DVD+R's on it.

Are there any special ways I need to set up my player, or are there other settings in Recode2 that I need to change to make it work??????

OK, I have gotten DVD-R's to work, now Im looking into seeing if I can get DVD+R's to work.
