If you study some older versions of the cracked serverpatches, you might be able to figure out what to "fix"..it's not that hard:D

I'm looking for a private server for 1.62 as well, and I don't quite understand the response. Anyone here want to help me out?

I've looked everywhere for a private server fix. I can't seem to find one, unfortunately. What to do? Anyone care to PM me a location? Or maybe send me e-mail?

I solved the mystery myself...
The solution is simple, but you have to have a bit of understanding...
You should Hex-Edit your nwmain.exe file and remove TWO strings away.
Search for nwmaster.bioware.com and remove it by writing zero's in the hex code. Don't use del for that, or cut, because it will retract the rest of the file and might ruin it.
After that, search for 66.244.193.142:5121, and remove it also.

Do the same to nwserver.exe and there you have it... your own private server.

Or, even easier, use a software firewall like ZoneAlarm or Kerio, or use a packet filter and block all internet traffic to nwmaster.bioware.com

This way you can always use any crack you like, or your original disc, or you can patch to whatever version without having to edit a thing.

Works for me.

Editing your hosts file so that both nwmaster.bioware.com and 66.244.193.142 point to 127.0.0.1 should do the trick too ... and no need to edit any .exe files or anything :)

Too bad you couldn't tell ME that before I found about it myself and only AFTER I wrote it here.

Hey, don't kill the messenger :)
But the .exe-editing way is cool ... also just knowing that it works that way too, and having found it out yourself and all :)
