i am having problems patching my copy of WE5 JAP. i am trying to convert my copy to a english copy. i got the patch from megagames.com and i am using CDR Win 3.8D. It just doesn't work when i use the swap trick method. HELP.
Dal and I joined forces on this one some weeks ago. The results were:
1 For PAL Machines NEO2.2
The CloneCD copy and the CDRWin 3.8D copy patched from the Megagames site for 100% English both worked with AR2 and DVD Region X
2 For JAP PS2
The CDRWin 3.8D copy patched from the Megagames site worked
So what are your symptoms? What were your CloneCD settings and what burner are you using? From where did you make a copy - a Jap original or another trusted source?

My current copy of Winning Eleven 5 is actually a copy of the orginal JAp version. I am using CDRWin 3.8F but when i patched it and burned it back, it doesn't work.
You didn't mention whether or not the copy you are using as source worked on your PS2? I presume it does. Was it made with CloneCD or CDRWin? Does the PPF Patcher report an error?
Is your PS2 JAP? or what?
M8,
We need some more info, like Charlie says do u have a JAP system or PAL??? what mod are you using if any???
What happens when you try to boot your backup of WE5??
Cheers

My current system is a jap and i am using the region x key in combination with its boot cd. When i put it in, it doesn't load up...
To diagnose this we still need more info:
1 Does your JAP version copy play on your PS2?
2 What modchip do you use?
3 What reader/burner do you have?
The game is not protected in a way that defeats CDRWin. So we have to try and narrow it down to what you're doing in CDRWin (or its hardware) and what the modchip/Region X combination is doing.
A simple test for your burner (if you haven't been successful with other copies - maybe you have) is to copy your WE5 CD (if it works) with CloneCD. If it doesn't work (which it won't on mine but might on yours because you boot with Region X DVD), move to CDRWin and simply apply the Universal Patcher (www.megagames.com) to the BIN filke and see if that plays. If it does, apply the English patch to the BIN file, burn it back and it should play.
All this is predicated on one dependfency: your JAP version copy plays OK.

My Jap version works on my jap ps2.
I am using the DVD Region X key mod.
I have got the Matshita CW-7502 cd writer.
Won't be able to get back to you till tomorrow now. I'm off to get the Origachip put into my PS2.

I just got a new burner... the ACER 1610A.
I am pretty keen at getting this game burned.
Is the DVD Region X Key the Jap version? Do any backups work with it? Just what booting sequence do you use?

My Region X Key is the JAP version...
alll my other games work fine. I use the booting sequence which which is the one where you use the boot CD which comes with the Region X Key.
It took a while to get there, but I think you don't have a modchip. You need one of those to get the backup game to be recognised. With NEO2.2 a CloneCD copy of WE5 (JAP) will play.
