Champions of Norrath. i read how to rip it to 2 dvd-r's and downloaded the .txt from swapmagicfix.com but i am still unable to get it to work. when i put the files in the generator and tried to save it it gave me an error. is there a ripkit out there that does it all for you? or can someone help me out who has backed up this game? i have never ripped anything without using a ripkit! any help?

I personally ripped this game. I only did disc one. It loaded but, when I tried to play the game it froze on a black screen. I think maybe I missed a file or something. Ill redo my work again one of these days.

BTW, I must insist that no illegal RELEASE TALK is talked about in these forums. Anyone doing so will be banned! Please only talk about the ripkit.

you get that error because you don't have aspi layer.
get it from here and restart your pc after install it.
http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/drivers_by_product.html?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=%2fProduct%2fASPI-4.70&prodkey=Windows+ASPI+Package

after saving the iml file, you will get error about your burner is not recognized, ignore them and you'll see recording window,
goto file -> export image and enter this name -> "image" and save it.
now open windows wordpad and type this line,
Copy /b image.000 + image.001 + image.002 + image.003 disk.iso
save it as "merge.bat" and put this bat file in same folder with those image parts and run it, burn the iso.

khafan i did as you told me to and got a lot further than ever. but i still dont have an image to burn. i used the notepad info(wordpad didn't work) and named it merge ect. when i opend it and it finished i got a .rar file!! i tried to rename but was unable to rename to .iso. if i extrack the .rar then i get what appears to be the exact same files that are on the original disc. ANY IDEAS?
PS: when i used cd/dvd gen. it made 2 files. do i use these for anything?
Help me out.. i think im close!

OK i made a sucessful back up..WAHOO to me(mostly khafan but ohwell:P). ok i just burned the disk.iso even tho it was in rar format and it worked!:) now that i have it backedup i was woundering if this is the whole game on one DVD-R or if i need to do this to a different file to get another DVD-R disc? so basically is this a DVD9 to 1 DVDR or a DVD9 to 2 DVDRs? if its to 2 DVDRs how do i make the other one? if not thanks a lot!

first here is the bat file that I'm talking about,
http://www.geocities.com/khafansh3/merge.zip

you should repeat the procedure for disk2 and you can find the list of files for disk2 in that guide.

when i read the guid i dont know what the difference is between the 2 discs. it says no need to drag the files in indivudaly. and it says use the same files! or are you just telling me that i put that merge that i d/led from ur post and put it in the same folder and it will make disc 2?

the merge u sent is the same one i made!!

I've been reading on some sites they were making backup dvd games on cd-r's just by taking out the movie files and replacing them with dummie files, so that it would fit the 700MB cd-r. Is it possible to do the same with a 9dvd game to a 5 dvdr? Just by taking out some movie files and replacing them with dummie files?

the merge u sent is the same one i made!!
that's good, I tought you made it wrong, so I uploaded it.

most of files in disk1&2 are common, so you can delete uncommon files from disk1 project and add files that needed for disk2 or just start new project and add files like the disk2 filelist in that guide.

Btw. it seems that iso files in your pc are associated with winrar, so they have rar icon. :)

so i have to go through the guide and add all thoes files indivudaly? that will take forever!

TylerDurden

It sure would. ;)

But unless someone takes the time to make a bat file with basically all the same info except with actual directories then you got to do it manually.

i believe i made the correct image for disc 2. i was woundering if someone would tell me how big it should be so i dont make a coaster and one other thing! i cannot merge the files with the merge i previously made!

khafan

If you added the files exactly like that guide with correct LBA value then your disk2 should be ok.
also like disk1, the name of image parts should be "image" otherwise that merge.bat doesn't work, like this:
image.000
image.001
image.002
image.003

eakinsme
06-03-2004, 07:50
ok thats what i did wronge. but now can you tell me how big disc 2 should be? and one other thing. how does the 2nd disc load? does it load to the same thing that disc one loads to?
thanks a lot!

khafan

sorry, I don't have this game yet, so I can't tell you the size of disks.
disk2 will load to the game menu like disk1 and you should start game from your last disk1 save.
there's a note about swap point in that rip guide, in certain point in disk1, you should save your game and then load disk2 and continue from that point.
