is there a way to open the dvd rom so i can clean the laser lens?

Just get a hammer put your foot on top of your drive. Gently stick the nail-pulling side of your hammer in the little sticking out part of the tray and use the new leverage you have to rip the tray out. Then continue using the hammer till you actually see the laser. Carefully clean with a q-tip and rubbing alchohol.

i heard touching it witha q tip aint a good thing to do

Take out the dvd-rom. The top has 2 screws on it in the middle left/right. Take those out, and you can remove the top shield of the drive.

wohoo i cleaned the laser it plays all my games perfectly.:D
