I have an psx(scph-5501) with an old modchip(unknow) and it still working. But when I put a backup CD in it, movies and music is skiping. The psx have difficulties to load datas somtimes. But I read a guide (how to burn psx games with Nero 5), I did everything and still skiping. (I made a backup from originals Cds). I burnt at 4X( the lower i can do) and i know the best is 1x but i must burn at 4x. I lost a lot of virgin Cds with this problem. It makes me realy sick and im tired. Should I buy a moded PsOne(the small one) or its ''Normal'' what happens.

That is a old console, its probably time to get a new one. The laser is fading.

I would suggest not buying a new ps1 and buy a new ps2 and mod that. You will then be able to play your old ps1 games as well as new ps2 games and back-ups of both of course.

The lasers life is over, re-adjustment wouldn't help, ... BUT its always worth a try, if that does't work, I think its time for you to get a PS2 and mod it.

PS3 is going to come out soon (next year) ... better hurry :)

Why wait, get a PS2 now that you know you can mod. Who knows how long it will be until the PS3 is hacked.
