Pizza Dough Tossing competition results for anyone interested. I placed 4th, Impressed the owner with my 4 to 5 month old, new skills and now he has decided to sponsor me in upcoming competitions. Looks like I will be going to NewYork for the next one. Wish me luck man. Some of that stuff is pretty cool to watch.
Some of the tricks include: Wrist flips, Rolling the dough down my arm to my finger tips. 2 at once tricks, Tossing while on my back between my legs while doing a bicycle exercise. Behind the back stuff, drop kicks some other fruity flashy tricks. I am currently working on a new routine blind folded using 2 at a time. Anyone with a good idea for some sort of music to chose from, let me know. ( routine has to be some sort of theme as well). Thanks for all of your support. I will be sure to address Game Copy World file forum members (WHEN) I win. ( notice I did not say "If" )
Plz let me know any good music theme ideas you might have cause I gotta come up with something that will win the croud over and impress the judges.
My current idea is set to the Theme song from Mortal Kombat and while performing my routine, include some sort of martial arts forms while spinning the pizza dough and doing tricks. (a short part of my routine will include a Blindfolded section) I really want to win this thing so I will be practicing constantly. min 3 hours a day.

Thats a very interesting music list there Bounty. :p
@crazygamelover
I have one song you may wanna think about. Its the "Party Boy" theme song. It was used in the mtv show Jackass.
You may wanna consider a costume that includes rollar skates, long tube socks, headband, and short shorts. T-shirt is not required.
Tyler!
Yeah, do that Party Boy gimmick. Do that gimmick with Chuck Berry's My Ding A Ling playing. "When I was a Little bittie Boy, My Grandmother bought me a cute little toy. Silver Bells hanging on a string. She told me it was my Ding-A-Ling-A-Ling" Excellent Crowd Participation with that song. Lets not forget the Guitar Solo too :p
Actually I would love to see you do this contest in a Tellytubby outfit.

OK, I enjoy good humor just like anyone else, but, NO tellitubby or barney outfits or any other weird stuff. This is weird enough already.
When I win, I will join the USPizzaTeam and go to Italy to represent the US in the World Pizza Championships. It is kinda like Olympics for just pizza stuff. Biggest, Best, Fastest, and Fanciest. You can visit their web site at the links posted below.
I know how CrAzy this all sounds but If any of you would like a Demo Cd to see what its all about, email me your address and I will send you a copy. It is neat to see all the stuff some these guys can do with dough. Like the Harlem Globe Trotters of pizza.
Their is a 1 hour documentry on the UsPizzaTeam that will be airing on March 21st at 8 or 9 pm. Check local listings for exact channel. Might be on the Food Network channel and is called ,The Pizza Challenge.
The web sites are PMQ (http://www.pmq.com) , UsPizzaTeam (http://www.uspizzateam.com) , and

This sounds very cool CGL, Back in the day I worked for a sandwich chain here on the west coast and we had the fastest sandwich making contest every year. It was pretty cool; they would giveaway a lot of money and on year a new car.

That link is of the 5 time World Champion Pizza Dough Tosser and the current UsPizzaTeam Coach, Tony Gemignani. Frank and Tony own Pyzanos Pizzeria in Castro Valley California.
He won 5 competitions before being asked to step down and be the Coach of the Team.
I just found out today that I am competing at the Las Vegas Convention Center on the second week of March. I never thought this CRazY stuff would land me a trip to Las Vegas. I guess I better really practice now eh?

Hey Spedmetal, You oughta go check it out on a Wednesday evening. They have KidsPromo that night. Tony, when in town, does a pretty nifty demo for the kids. From what I hear, their pizza isnt bad either. That guy can toss some serious dough.
He's won alot of competitions. I bought his training DVD collection to help in my tossing techniques. I havent got them yet but hopefully they will assist my already developed skills. Might even learn a few more tricks too. Dudes definitely got mad skills.

At the time, I only had 4 months of practice and I took 4th place in Colubus Ohio. While 4 months was not enough to win the contest and make the team, I did manage to impress the owner and he is sponsoring me in future competitions. I was falsely informed that there would be a competition in Las Vegas but when we got there, we found out otherwise for reasons unknown. The next one is in November at the New York pizza show and this time, I will have a full year of training. Most of my routine is blindfolded now and even more impressive than last time. I think my odds of making the team this time have increased 10 fold . I practice an average of 3 hours a day. I have also been working on a new product for practicing but due to the early stages of development, and working on getting a patent, I can not comment on that as of yet. I have also been invited to Career Day at the local schools for some demos which wont be until the next school year. There are some tough competitors now but I will give it my 110% effort and hope for a victory this time. I will be sure to keep everyone posted on any more updates.

Update: The "US Pizza Team Coach", and "5 Time World Champion", Tony Gemignani, made a recent decision to come out of retirement. He resigned as Coach last week and has decided that he may compete again, or bring a couple of his employees to compete. The next competition is gonna be a very challenging one. Ironically it is Thanks to his training DVD's that I have advanced so rapidly in this new sport. It would appear, I better train even harder now. Luckly, there is still a 75 percent chance that I may still make the team, as they are taking the top 3 competitors. Where there is hope, I will try my best.
Its kinda like giving a Skateboard to someone and in a years time competing against Tony Hawk. Hmmmm.............I feel a disturbance in the force. lol :D

crazygamelover
05-06-2004, 14:03
Oh yeah, definitely worldwide. If I make the team, they will fly us to italy where 23 countries will compete for the world championships. It is a growing new sport. You can read up on it at PMQ.com or go to uspizzateam.com.
Pmq has some demo videos if you want to check them out. Just click on the theater link. All you see in there, I can already do and some of it, I can do blindfolded. It is gonna still be tough though because they have a minimum of 2 years experience on me. I will just train harder to make up for lost time.

Update: I just got an interview from the local news paper. I guess their gonna do an article. I was also invited to do a demo in the local Fair parade. I was told it will be on the local TV channel. This is really turning into more than i expected. Maybe I should take TD's advice and go with the ole Partyboy song and get down right silly... :p No offence TD but that was the best (silliest) reply I ever heard. :p Ya got a real sence of humor man! Could even take a few notes on some of those song titles mentioned by Bounty. :p
It would be so hilariously FUNNY. :D On a more serious note, I am ready for the Competition now. I have the blindfolded part of my routine down quite well. I know I will do good with my amberdextrous 2 tricks at once moves. It pays to practice. Keep ya guys posted on more updates later.

You got it man! It will be published the week before the fair parade which is gonna be in a week or 2. I will get the link from my wife and post it here later. I will not be making a new post however for the link, I will just edit this one and try to give the exact date it will be published. Either that or post the article itself if its posibble. The link might be better though. We'll see! This is definitely turning into quite a crazy thread. Cool yet funny at the same time. When I edit it, I will put (Edited) down below so you see it right away.
Edited:the site is www.monroenews.com and I will just post the date when i find out for sure. That way you get the email notification.

You are right, it does have a good beat! The song really is not that bad at all. I actually had to watch the movie again to get the full meaning of your previous mention and man that was hilarious. I dont think I could do that in public. :o :D I wouldnt want to scare the children! :D

Another Update: Sry was kind busy so I didnt get to tell all of you that I got a call yesterday to do a photo shoot for the article. It started out to be an article about just the Parade and I was told by the guy doing the article that his editor bumped it up and will now be a special. Not sure what that means but he said it may be on the front page. Talk about WOW. I sure hope the article is cool. I cant wait to read it myself. ;)
Edit: The photo shoot took about an hour and they took what seemed to be almost 100 pics. I hope they pick the one where I knocked my hat off with a toss over my shoulders. NOT! :p

Man, that parade was a long one. Over 100 float entries. We walked/jogged about 1 1/2 miles. Got some standing novations though. All in all it was a huge success. They had it televised on the local cable network and I some how managed to be doing the (bicycle exercise/ spinning the dough between my legs trick :p ) when they caught it on TV. That was the highlight of all of the tricks and the one that got the most response from the crowd. It was kinda windy for some of the other high risk tricks but we improvised quite nicely. The kids loved it. Just wanted to let you all know how it went. Here (http://www.monroenews.com/articles/2004/08/02/news/news01.txt) is the follow up article from the parade, however it was very brief. I will keep you posted on more updates later! ;)

Update:
OMG! I am freaking out. Check this (http://www.pmq.com/mag/2004september_october/pizzathemovie.php) out. Man, I cant believe this happened.
First of all, I was invited 2 wks ago to attend the Sofo Foods Expo in toledo.
They asked if I could come out and perform some dough tossing for the vendors and buyers at the pizza contest. So I accepted the invitation only to find out that Cat Price productions showed up to document the event for their upcoming movie. They shot 3 or 4 video tapes worth of footage of me tossing. Holy crap, it could be that I have stumbled into their movie by accident. I didnt even notice them at first cause they always cover the show on video. It was not out of the ordinary to have a camera on the sceen. Naturally, I over looked this as just that and tossed down for about 4 1/2 hours. It wasnt til after the 3rd tape change that they revealed who they were and what they were doing. After it was all over, they came up to me like they knew me and said, "Wow, we didnt even know you were gonna be here". Jokingly, I said, " That makes us even cause I didnt know you guys would be here either". It attracted some very big people in the pizza industry as well. I was approached by the editor of PMQ Magazine and was told that he was very impressed with some of my moves. I did the "Gemignani trick blindfolded 3 consecutive times in front of the camera.
I was told that if I can pull off that again in New York, I will probably make the team for sure. I am so excited to think I may have just helped make a film. I'm freaking out. This is alot more than I ever expected for sure. Just thought I would share this news with you guys.

To celebrate the end of the Pizzaworld-happening, a mammoth pizza was baked in Napels. It just weigh 124 kilo (273 pound) and was put in an oven of 83 m³ (3037 ft³) The bakers seem to have gotten hungry.

Well tomorrow is the big debut. I went to the convention center today to check out the competition and it is very tight. I got my work cut out for me. There was a little 13 or 14 year old italian kid thats got mad skills. Hes has to wait a few years thought cause the age limit is 18yrs old. By the time hes ready age wise, he will be very tough to beat.
As it turns out, We (USPT contestants) was invited to be on a local news channel WPIX this morning at 5:00am. That was pretty cool. After that, we headed over to another place to be on Good Morning America. Originally we were there o be extras on the show but after throwing some dough, they asked us to do a separate segment afterward.
Needless to say it has been a very busy day so far. I will post more later on this tomorrow and let everyone know how it went.

Possibly tomorrow (Wednesday 11/03/04) morning. They filmed 2 segments, One was aired live and the other one was recorded. They are supposed to send us a copy too. This dough throwing is turning out to be a worth while investment of my time. Even if I dont place in the top 3, I have gotten the opportunity to meet so many new people. I have been on TV 3 times now, been on a theatrical movie (Pizza the Movie) that will be released in late 2005 or early 2006. Got to travel to Columbus Ohio, Las Vegas, and New York. I'd say thats almost a win in itself. To top it all off, I still have a decent chance to make the US Pizza Team, if not here in New York, then in Columbus Feb 2005. I am up against the very best Pizza Dough Throwers in the entire US.

Well the final competition was very crappy. It started off with 12 contestants. 3 dropped out of the competition before it even started. The stress and nervessness of everyone was extremely high. It was one of the toughest competitions I have ever been in. Each one of them are extremely skilled. Of the 9 who competed, I was told I placed 4th. :( Bummer....but 4th in the US isnt bad though. My routine went really bad. Some of the best and most talented people have bad days and boy did I have a BAD one. I know I could have done alot better. Atleast I got to be on TV a few times. That was very exciting. I found out that being a celebrity is cool but can be a rough lifestyle. There is alot of pressure on them. I'm glad I made it as far as I did. I feel like I let you guys down but there is always the next time. It gives me time to get even better. I will keep you guys posted on more later.
