Hi,

i don't know if i'm on the right place to ask such a question.
It's for my PS2 and PSOne games EURO PAL. The Getaway, SWAT:Global Strike Team, Kingdom Hearts, Stormsled, Harry Potter: And The Pilosopher Stone, Gran Turismo 1, Lara Croft (dunno which one i lend it to a friend)
I have been reading on some sites that you can make your own patches. And most sites that have been making patches seem to be death or something because they don't make any new ones. Because the games i have, there is no patch made for them yet.
The thing is i would like to make them on my own and i've been reading on paradox site to use makeppf with *.bin files and then you create a *.ppf file. The problem is you need the original *.bin file and a touched *.bin file, then compares the 2 to make these *.ppf files. And i've been reading through some of these patch engines on this site, and they do the same. But i don't know what the touched file is could anyone help me out how i can do it? Or tell me which patch engine on this site i can use for it.
And btw is it even posible to play these patched games without using a modchip?

What you are talking about is you need the origninal unpatched and/or unchanged .bin file. I think any virgin iso will work though.

Then you need the one youve already altered. You use the "Dos" prompt in windows to use the application "makeppf". You direct it to the original .bin/iso then compair it to the altered .bin/iso and then just name your patch.

Makeppf, only makes a patch out of compairison of 2 .bin/iso's. It doesnt exactly make the changes itself. You would have to do that yourself out of your own knowledge.

I have a program that patches from PAL to NTSC if you have a virgian freshly made ISO. It wont make the pff though. But really why would you need it if its already patched?

Because they said to me you should patch the file before burning it back on a dvd or am i totally wrong then?

You will need a modchip to play backups. Unless the originals are mod chip protected you shouldnt need to patch. A RAW DAO96 CD/DVD burner along with a good No-Swap chip will take care of region code and most protections.

And since we dont know any particulars about your ps2 we really cant tell you what you need or dont need. Next time tell us the version of ps2, type of modchip, region of games, and region of ps2.

Wel i do have a dvd burner plextor px 708a. The version of my ps2 is 4 and it's a PAL, since i'm in Belgium. And all my games are PAL. The only thing i don't have is a modchip that's why i thought you could make a back up game without a modchip. And i've seen some patches with the protection fix. So why are patches neded then anyway if you can play them with just making a backup.

Arrrggg!!! YES you need a mod chip! The protection removal patches are for mod protected games. Were are people getting the notion as of late that they dont need mod chips. Is it because of this damn swap magic stuff!!!

--edit--

also I beleave the protection patches where used back when the only way to play back-ups was to swap.

--edit #2--

also I beleave you dont have to use the patches with the new swap crap. But I could be wrong as I dont and will never use swap crap!

Patches are used mostly by people who use out of date or crap modchips (Neo2, no-solders, swapmagic disc ect) Or people who rip games instead of make direct backups.
You already have a good dvd burner, Buy a messiah2 or MagicV chip and you should be set. Dont waste your money on the above mentioned crap. You should also read the ultimate info sticky, You can learn alot from it.
