View Full Version : PS2 Mod Chip - External or Internal
I'm gonna get a PS2 soon, and i want to be able to play backup games and also all region DVD's.
I understand NEO 4 will do all this, but i want an external device that can do the same. Is there an external Mod that will allow me to play backups and all region DVD's
Thanks
Hi,
The only external solution is the NEOKEY which slots into one of your USB ports. You still have to soldier one wire inside your PS2 and if your gonna do that you might aswell install another 4 and have the NEO2.5 modchip.
If your after multi-region DVD playback then the REGION X will help you out there, this will also with the NEOKEY or NEO2.5 mod allow you to boot PS2 backups.
Also if you dont have a ps2 already then i suggest you get a pre-installed system. These can be bought from either www.playstationmods.com or www.kanection.co.uk
Thats what i did saves so much stress....

p.s. those sites i mentioned have info on the NEOKEY and REGION X CD

I believe you will have to patch if using a usb mod, Try doing a search on warlock he is the best when it comes to neo modchips and usb modchips. personally i think the usb mods suck but still some people like them.
Does the NEOKEY allow me to play all region DVD's ?
Hi,
the USB mod will require you to patch your EA games, but the internal mods you dont have to ie NEO2.2
For you to play multi region DVDs you will need the REGION X as stated in last post. The only NEO mod which will allow you to play muti-region DVD is the NEO4, but when that comes out who knows.
