HELLO ALL FROM AUSTRALIA.....
I AM A NEWBIE TO THIS FORUM BUT HAVE READ ALOT OF YOUR ARTICLES AND FORUMS AND I THE ADVICE GIVEN AND TUTORIALS ARE UNREAL,
BUT I HAVE PROBLEM WITH XBOX COPY AS I CAN MANAGE TO COPY SOME OLDER TYPE GAMES TO THE HDD BUT NOT THE NEWER GAMES. I HAVE A MATRIX CHIP AND RUNNING EVOX AND YOUR ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED...
DO I NEED TO UPDATE MY BIOS OR CHANGE A SETTING ...

They should all be able to be copied to the hdd. Updated bios would allow you to play them, so I suggest you update to 4981.
FOR FUTURE REFERENCE, UNLESS YOU TALK TO PEOPLE 2FT IN FRONT OF YOU BY SHOUTING, PLEASE DONT USE CAPS TO ASK A QUESTION.

Are the ALL CAPS necessary?

Sorry about that guys.....
It's just that when i use xbox copy it seems to copy the files but at the end of it transfering it either doesn't copy or it will copy and i can't play it (that's where i need the updated bios i assume).
Thanx again
you can try to upgrade you'r bios. but i honestley don't see why every one makes so much fuss about the bios. i'm still running the original bios which came with my chip. and i got one of the original first series mod chips well over 14 months ago. and it plays every thing i put in it. if i do come across a game it won't play i just patch the default.xbe for that game.

wildennis, try using dvd2xbox. I rescently found xbcopy ot woking for me too well, as in I get wierd errors when copying. Also, it autopatches games so you wouldn't have to upgrade bios.
Also wanted to ask, do you have a Thompson dvd-rom ? Is the hole in the drive tray a U, a circle, or one with 2 small circles in the corner?
2 O's = awsome
1 circle = cool
U shape = OH MY GOD, KILL ME (a little exaggerated, but u get the picture)
hey quall. i have the thompson in both my xbox's and i have never had a problem with them yet.

lucky you. I have 2 thompsons, only one is dying and reads slow on both originals, and backups. The sad part is that I rarely use my xbox to play dvd movies now, and my drive has still gone bad farely quick.

I indeed have a Thompson drive and haven't had a problem with it so far (But by the sounds i will) as i have got 2 games a mate had copied and seem to work fine playing them, also is it capable of reading a dvd + rw.
thanx
