Hey everyone,
I have a V1 PS2 with a NEO2.5 swap installed. I had it since May 2001. Sometimes it does not read very well my dvd-rs (does not boot). But all of my dvd-rs work but whenever the ps2 wants to. I am thinking of replacing the mod to a non-swap. Should I change my PS2 version too? I want the best choice so that I do not have to worry about my ps2 having reading problems forever! Any suggestions on what should I do?
Peace,
Nino
Changing your mod won't help your laser issues. V1s suck. You are best off buying a new premodded system.

i would say modchipan is too slow and there isnt a lot of mod chips avaliable. i would personaly get it done by www.norcalmods.com as they have had very good reviews.

if you are located in the us then u can go for norcalmods. modchip man takes 5-7 days to ship the premod just to make sure it has no faults then shipping is super fast! if u want a dms3 i wud still say go modchipman!

Sorry guys...
I have a V4 PS2. Not a V1 PS2. So what's the problem/what should i do?
Also any1 knows a great place that installs mods in Toronto?
Peace,
Nino
If it's having a hard time reading discs, sell it and move up... V4 lasers are usually crap - I guess I just landed lucky with my V4R :D

Is it true that V4 Ps2s have 50/50 chance of reading DVD-Rs when modded? Should i go ahead with my V4 and change my old swap mod with a no-swap?

Well its probably not an exact percentage but I would use that for a refference.
Tyler!
well i got a new laser put into my ps2 version1 and now it reads everthing great. if yours is still in guarantee you can send it in to sony and tell them that is doesn't read the games to good and the will replace the laser

At a price! sony dont do it for free unless it has waranty still.
your right i did have a warranty still. but isn't it cheaper to just buy the newer laser for the version one then to buy a whole new system.

I have a V4 not V1.
But let's say that I need to replace my laser for my V4 PS2, what laser should it be replaced with? What's the average price?
Nino
go to this site http://www.the-console-corner.com/prod05.htm. but i don't think that you need it for a v4. i think the problem is with the version 1
