I've just got Deus X (First game) from a local store. I want to play without the cd, but can't find a crack. I believe earlier versions were unprotected, but this Game of the Year edition uses safedisk v.2.80.011. I can't find either an Exe.cleaner or NOCD for this. I've tried cracks on other sites, but they all seem
to relate to early versions of the game, which didn't use this version of Safedisk (or Safedisk at all) Any ideas? Thanks
I know for sure that the original (not GOTY) edition has no protection at all.
I guess you already checked out GameFix and the unliked site?

I've tried everywhere. I guess the Crackers assume all versions are unprotected, but it seems strange that a 3 quid game should be protected at all! I'm having trouble with recent versions os Safedisk, being asked for the original even when it's in the drive. If anyone has an old version, I am willing to pay 20 quid plus for it. Failing that I will try Alcohol 120, though the thought of hundreds of Virtual drives is not one I relish.

I personally use Daemon Tools with exactly ONE (1) virtual drive and it works for any image that I make of my originals. I can almost guarantee it will work for you too even if your real cdrom has problems with safedisk 2. The only reason why I and other people don't use it more often is that each image takes up ~650 Mb of hard disk space. To date, this is the ONLY disadvantage of a virtual cdrom program. Yes you could make a virtual cddrive for every image if you want to, but switching between images is almost a one click process anyway....

Hi t.foster73, if you can find no no-CD patch on _any_ of the sites listed in one of the stickies, drop me an E-mail (not PM!).

I confess I'm new to this Alcohol/Daemon tools lark. Until now I've only used cracks to allow me to put my originals away. However, last week I bought Deus X-game of the Year edition, which although only costing me 2 quid, was protected with Safedisk V2.80.011. I searched every F/S and FTP site to no avail for a nocd, as could not start the game whatever I tried. However as a last ditch attempt, I used Alcohol 120 for the first time (Took me a while to figure out how it worked), and to my amazement I got the game to run. I'm a happy bunny but have a couple of questions I would like answered if possible.
1.I presume the Alcohol software runs in the background emulating the protection on the CD, so can this affect the performance of a game, or is it negligable?
2. I tend not to buy games I can't backup using some method, so recent titles like Trackmania and Beyond Good and Evil are titles I wanted but haven't bought. This TAGES/STARFORCE 3 protection seems to have the crackers foxed, but will Alcohol allow me to run them from a backup? Or does it depend on the version? Thanks
