Hey guys, I'm trying to back up some of my games and when burning is almost done it says there was an error. I look around and it says file size 4.8GB, is this bigger than the ritek-R are? Is there a way I can cut a tiny part or shrink something just a little bit? And can the PS 2 read -RW's. I have some and I hate wasting my -R's. I'm using gamejack and have a pioneer 106.
If the game is 4.8 GB then it is too big. Standard DVD-R media only holds 4.7 GB of data. There is a way however to reduce the size of the game that you are trying to copy. First, copy the game to your hdd. There, you should take out stuff that you dont need, like CMGs and dummy files. But only reduce the game enough to fit on the dvd, dont reduce it any more than you have to. Then burn the game to the dvd. And yes most modchips will play DVD-RW, but I have no knowledge of the type of modification of which you speak.

so you can just delete extra files? is there a thing that says how to do this or which files to delete?
There are lots of tutorials out there, but it is rather easy. Just copy the game to your hdd and remove un-neccesary files. Like CMG's and There are even some dummy files there that you can remove. Then burn to a cd. Just do a google search for tutorials.
Unless it is a dvd9 game it should fit on a 4.7 dvd-r. What game are you trying to backup. I have never seen a dvd 9 game that was 4.8. Most are much larger. Its not a downloaded rip is it??

I would say it is RATHER difficult!
For example: To burn SNES Station on a CD-R just drag the files in your burner software, record as Mode 2 Data, boots fine with any chip. Try recording as DVD data and see if you can boot the DVD-R with ANYTHING! You can’t do it!
The DVD image must be built with hidden license data. Even if you can figure out that puzzle and get a program like SNES Station to boot on a DVD-R, an original game will be a whole new game with IMG
Protections to patch, and just hope the game doesn’t load files by LBA sector location!!
Rip tutorials, The last few I tried failed miserably!! It’s like people love to release incomplete junk or something!?
