:( I just installed RecordNow Max V4.5 . When I start up the progy it says that there is no recordable device connected. I have used this combodrive with other programs for cd and dvd(watching dvd movies). Is there something wrong with the install of the drive or the software? Does it matter that the driver is a windows one dated 2001? This stuff is new to me so any help in easy terms would be great!
Thank You!

What I know and just what the other thread says you will need the RN DX 4.61. That program will recognise the burner, I use it myself.
The newest Px engine for RNM can only take up to the 4020B burner so in the next update it should be supported, whenever that will be.

Ive been wondering if the PXengines are interchangable. Maybe by editing them somehow.

doesn't both program use a Px engine?
both have the same base just slight different layout.
recordnor dx was released from veritas up to version 4.60
sonic released the 4.61 version.
shouldn't the engines be compatible???
just a thought....

My buddy ChickenMan over at www.dvdrbase.com posted this a while back

if you feel real game, just find some editor that will allow editing of a dll or exe file, find pxdrv.dll file in the windows/system32 folder, do a search for 105 (for the Pioneer 105) and change to 106. I had to do similar to get the latest (and earlier ones) to see my LiteOn 52x burner
So, following the above find 4020B and replace with your 4040B
Please only try this if you are confident in what you are doing, I hold no responsibility should it cause any problems.
The easiest thing would be to purchase RecordNow DX 4.61 :)

Yep, and I use RN DX 4.61
just that I can't help myself when it come to things like this.
I just want to try to solve things for others too.... that uses RNM 4.5 and don't want to buy another program.
Going to check it up.... just not knowing when I will have that time.....
