View Full Version : Cant solder the flat gold points on ps2 board

I was trying to put a magice V in my ps2 V7

I cant get the soder to stick the the flat gold points on the back.

I scraped the points and i still have trouble.


any sugestions to do these? The chip sodered no problem.


Im using "No Clean Flux Core Solder"

Tin the wire , tin the via/pad, apply solder paste/liquid to the wire then put the tined wire on the tinned via/pad then touch with your iron quickly, hope this works via’s can be a beeotch your first time.

oh and one other thing make sure you clean any area you use the paste on when your all done with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol as some solder flux can be corrosive and eat the modo tracks over time.

and to make tinning the via's a little easier use the solder paste/liquid on them as well.

Yup, Flux is the key. It wont bond without it. I use Oatey NO.95 tinning flux. You can get it most anywhere.
