View Full Version : Backing to DVD
Is it possible to backup multiple titles to a single DVD, So I can play those games without swapping out media, just leave the one DVD in? And if so where would I obtain that information.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes it is possible (but not for every game)..
You shuld even use NOCD, thats saves your Original also....
I've done this with the three cds of BEYOND GOOD & EVIL.
Just copied all file from the cds to a Temp-Folder, adding the crack and burnt it with Nero6.
Together with the NoCD Crack it works fine.
yep, i did that with XIII and it works, too. installing from 1 dvd is way more comfortable than swapping 3 discs.
Is this possible with the Baldurs Gate games? I wouldn't mind putting them on DVD's to save disk swaps,
do u just copy all the data from all disks onto the base dir on the dvd-r, or make separate dir's for each one??
i just copied the files from each cd into the nero dvd-compilation. i got asked if some files should be replaced and i always said yes. the files beeing replaced were just 4 times the same files on every cd.
so i ended up in all data?.cab files lying in one directory and voila, installation without changing cds.

Superb, I'll try that,
thanks a lot!
The only problem is usually in the Autorun programs. Sometimes they will check which disc is in. For most games this is not a problem and you can always make your own autorun. Usually you can edit a file to get it to work right. I have Baldurs gate on I DVD and it works great, very easy to do. I even put the expansion pack on the same DVD but I had to make a program that would autorun and check if Baldurs gate was installed then launch the Tales of the Sword Coast installer if it is.

Sounds good, is that just like editing the ini files to assign the disk?
I put the four BGII disks on DVD, it wouldn't install but now it sounds like changing autorun would be a better idea,
I tried to install it from the CDs and run it from DVD but that wouldn't work, so I reckoned I could edit the ini file to assign the drives, but the autorun definately sounds a better plan,
sound good to be able to put expansion disks on to, I have most of the Interplay games but hardly play them, could be tempted if they'd run off one disc,
is there any tutorials on editing autoruns or are they just like bat files?

Don't think it will works. Baldurs Gate 1 is a dvd version in the stories, but Baldurs Gate 2 can be more problem with. Don't think it will work!
Haven't tried BGII but I'm sure it can be done, so far I have converted most of the 3+ CD games I have to DVD but most need a crack and for some you do need to edit files if you want to use the riginal installer.
thanks for your help guys!

If everything else fails you can still create images of the CDs and burn them on DVD. Then you won't neither need a No-CD crack.
(Of course then you still have to "swap" "CDs")
