I recently bought a new cdrw which is an LG CD-RW GCE 8525B 1.01. When I put a PS2 game in such as DDR Max dance revolution or Finding Nemo the discs are unreadable. I tried in my regular CompaQ CD-r and it won't read either. Tried The SIMS and it read it fine in both drives. Also when I am in CDRWIN and I go to devices and recorders it says no supported devices installed for recording. Does it not recognise my Burner, it does for reading.
Thanks:mad:
Ok, you are aware that most new PS2 games are, in fact, DVD-based ... aren't you?

OK That explains it. When did they start doing that. So do you need a dvd burner I suppose to burn and read newer games.

They started doing that when they first made the ps2 bud. With every year more and more games are comming out as dvd rather than cdr because of game sizes.

So in order to copy do you need a DVD burner

To back up a ps2 dvd you need a dvdr burner.
To back up a ps2 cd then you need a cdr burner.

So do you know if there is a list available that shows what is dvd and what is cd format.

No.
All you have to do is look at the bottom of the disc. If its silver then its a dvd. If its blue then its a cd.

Thanks a lot for your help Tyler, but I have two more questions. Are all PS1 games cd format and do they just have to be copied and patched then reburn with cdrwin. Secondly since CDRWIN does not recognise my burner can I patch the file and burn it using nero or some other software.

All ps1 games are cd games.
If your using your ps2 to play ps1 backups I dont think you need to patch them. Just copy with whatever work in your burner. Again read the "Ultimate Info Sticky".
