Hi All,

I seem to be having some problems with backing up my PS2 games which have 4.3gb or above TOC.

The backups will load and play however I notice the laser is making a mouse squeeky noise, like it can;t find certain information on the dvd-r. When this happens loading times takes ages and FMV or movies jerk and sometimes will not play at all.

I was using media like Shintaro and other lesser known brands (if i backup games with 4gb or less TOC the games player perfectly all the way through.

However I have used Verbatim dvd-r with large TOC with no probs. Does that mean it is a media problem? I tried TDK (iteam code DVD-R47EA) and the same problem happened.

I noticed some good priced Ritek;s on ebay, anyone have experience with large TOC games and riteks?

Is the problem I have having a known problem? Or is there something wrong with my setup?

I am using a AO4 burner with firmware 1.41.

Thanks for your time and I hope you guys can give me some advice :).

More than likely its a media problem. Larger discs should give you better reading because the disc is spinning faster towards the edge of the disc. Anyways, get yourself some Riteks, you should be fine with those.

Yeah, try Verbatim DVD-R. They have never given me any trouble, plus they can be bought in bulk at a great price from your local Sams Club.

I have the EXACT same problem with Princo’s on my LG 4040B! It’s kind of a relief to hear others having the same problem, I thought my drive was junk. The first few backups worked great (all under 3.5G), then I updated my firmware to A301 and just happened to try burning two 4.3 Gig backups right after the update and when neither would boot my first thought was the firmware! I upgraded to A302 now but have not tried any DVD-R’s yet, probably no different as it probably never was the firmware. So verbatims work good, I’m surprised TDK’s don’t work good. If you find any other brands that work good please post.
