pls answer. v4 ps2 constantly sending to sony for laser. works fine for weeks and boots right up w/out chip (no solder/swap disc) put in chip disc read err w/in 2-3 weeks. coincidence or the chip? how does the chip affect the laser though? anyhow sony will REPLACE it this time, "w/ the closest thing to the one i gave them back"(although they dney any diff's in any of the ps2 and say there are no"versions")anyway my bro has a v5 or 7 and will trade w/ me since he has no plans for a chip it should be fine for him right?, i dont want to mess w/ his game playin time. agaain is it th echip causing this prob, just the ps2 or both.? what kinda chip should i get? reliability not price #1 concern and wont f'up my sys.

If it's a Neo chip, the odds are pretty good that it is the cause of your system dying.

Either that, or Sony's "fix" was simply to retune the pots on your laser, which is only a temporary fix at best.
