Also I've been reading about socalmods having trouble with the modchips and the ver.9's, so my question is what is a good chip to buy now for a ver.9?

Check out the PS2 modchip installers sticky to see who is good and who isn't. Never heard of shop-for-me.

what i like to do first, i buy something worth 5 pounds and see if they send it and see if there trustworthy if they are i would order more ;)

This guy is pretty quick to respond to emails and is pretty informative. He is selling premodded systems with various chips starting around $260, seems to be really pushing the magic v 50k as a good chip to go with. Might be worth checking out. I was really impressed with socalmods, but seems they've run into a bad batch of chips or something. Thanks for all the feedback anymore would be great!
