It's a method whereby you pay someone to damage your PS2.

Amazing, isn't it?

It is a piece of crap wanna be mod. Get a real mod such as a Messiah 2, DMS3, Duo, Apple Pro, Magic V, or Smartchip.

Swap Magic is also used when you have a "no solder" mod chip, as I do. Unless you have a 39000x version you can use gameshark, but if you do, then Magic Swap is what you need. If you can, I would suggest going for a "real" modchip like messiah, etc. But if you can't solder and can't find someone to, like me, no solder with swap magic works.

Swap magic are boot disc that are used to load backups, Swap magic disc along with Z's Flip top tolet lid or a no solder mod will boot some backups but not all.
No-swap chips are CHEAP, you would have to be a idiot to buy this crap, or as one of our moderators says
GHETTO!!

Ok now that you guys answered, steveys question <what is swap magic> I ask ..... "how does swap magic cause harm to the ps2 system" and why is it sooo "Ghetto" I was getting ready to give it a shot <swap magic that is> till I came across this forum, which has nothing but nagative reviews. Please give details on swap magic I would appreciate it.

u might want to check out www.ps2ownz.net theres alot of reviews on it there and the swap dics cant hurt a ps2 its just if u use a slide card with the disc it could tear up a system or flip tops i used it for a few days it worked fine and i dont belive it will kill ur ps2 unless u leave the lid open all the time lol and with no solder chips with swap disc i never seen a problem with them unless u get a bad chip which is unlikely and it would kill a ps2 right off i had this happen b4 :( but that was like 1 chip out of 50 lol but what ever rout u go the slide card will be most likely to kill a ps2 unit right off but which ever way u go u will need one of the 3 to boot the games with swap disk

A. a slide card = crap
B. a flip top lid = decent lids can break ez though
C. a no solder mod = best of the 3 works pretty good in my eyes the best u can get for a mod besides a solder chip there the best

If would use a no-solder mod before i used the lid.
BTW the owner of PS2OWNZ.com, Z or whatever he calls himself, invented the flip lid and is VERY biased. He bans any negative feedback on it as well as the person that posted it.
Newbie's come here for advise yet rarely take it. If you want hassle free booting buy a no-swap chip and stay away from this crap. It really doesnt cost that much more.

Ive been thinkin of outlawing the posts of fliptop lids and swap magics here. What do you think Warlock. I wont ban anyone, just lock the thread and post a rule about it in the forum rules.:D

yeah they r made very cheap it dont take much and the lid will break maybe if some one else makes it and puts more time into it could last awhile i bought some for a relly cheap price to resell :D and the lid was busted on one that was never used only payed 25$ each for them with swap magic shiped which is relly a decent price cause swap disk r 20$ each

Hey tyler if you guys would have outlawed posts on filp tops and swap magics here a week ago, I wouldn't have read all these negative replies about it, therefor making me (a newbie) possibly buying the piece of crap. I think instead of outlawing swap magic etc. posts.. you guys should make a thread on why it sucks so much and warning all the newbies to avoid this product. I think the negative reviews about it might damage sales then again I'm a newbie I could be wrong and my opinion might be useless.

Very good point. Me and Bighap discussed this issue for a few hours yesterday and found it may be a more complicated subject than normal. Your idea sure does help quite a bit though.

I used to use these forums a lot but to be honest they seem to have gone down hill.

Big up to Bighap/BG/Charlie/Tyler & Warlock and I hope non of this offends any of you.

I had a spare no solder lying around so after selling my V5 messiah a year ago decided to put the no solder into a brand new V7.

I had a couple of spare swap magic discs so decided to make it a temp job until I could be bothered installing a messiah 2.

1 year down the line and I've still got the no solder and swap magic setup cause it works fine and doesn't freeze games such as GTA vice city/kingdom hearts etc (like on Magic 3)

I did a lot of testing for the forum when 'problem' games occured with the swap magic 2 and compiled a list which may still be around on this forum but with the CDloader (Or swap magic 3) EVERY SINGLE GAME BOOTS(Including HighTOC Rips)

In my opinion yes it's a lot of messing around but it is a valid set up for people who don't want to install a solder chip.

Deciding to ban talk of swap magic is pathetic and even more childish than the goings on over at ps2ownz. I remember the days when this forum was to give people ways of playing their backups, with honest opinions and experiences. Not just crap such as " Swap magic is an easy way to kill your ps2" cause swap magic doesn't do *hit all damage at all.

WOW this thread is getting allot of input for old out dated technology that is crap when compared with no-swap technology. Come on people we have been in the age of no-swaps for over a year now! Get with the times and a much better way of playing your back-ups. @Jay_83, I don’t think Tyler was talking about 'banning' all talk of swap magic and no-solders, just linking them to a thread that already states the views of many others on this forum that would explain the pros and cons of why or why not people should use the swap magic/no-solders. Ultimately though we all know including you Jay_83 that there is no comparison to no-swap mod's, and that’s the point I believe we are trying to get across here. Yes the swap magic/no-solder is a good way for people that don’t want to open there PS2 or even solder a mod chip in to be able to play back-ups but as Warlock said its really doesn’t cost allot more to have some one do it for you, might even be less in some cases. But in the end it’s totally up to the person that owns the PS2 but I say DOWN with swap magic and no-solders they are a pain in the ass!

@Jay_83,

Im sorry if I or any other of the moderators here have failed you on these forums.

But I still feel the no-solder and flip tops are ghetto. Mainly because they are just so tedeous in nature.

For example its the same reason we dont have tutorials on how to rip dvd games here. Its just an outdated and overworked practice.

As for your comment about "childish goings on". Dude we are playing video games here. Everything here is childish.

Like spedmetal said, I dont want to "ban" people for talking about these devices, I just wish to be rid of it. But in retrospect, I may leave the decision up to the users of the ps2 forum. Keep an eye on the top of the ps2 forum for a new temporary sticky. ;)
