Maxtor? If you can put one of those Im sure you can put just about any hdd in. Id like to hear some info on it myself. Im more of a Seagate fan personally. Also any info on preparing the hdd for the ps2 would be nice as well.

If it is indeed possible that is.

i think it depends on the need of the hdd. i'm pretty sure hdd games come with utilities that make a special filesystem for ps2 game playing, and i think i've seen the executables floating around. for linux...it pretty much follows the rules to get the harddrive

Hope you can make some use from these links...

I don't know if this sounds stupid, but if the hard drive doesn't fit properly, can't you just use a normal connector ribbon that is normally used for linking hard drives to the computer motherboard? I'm really tempted to try since I have a 10 gig hard drive sitting at home with nothing on it.

you probably could but you would need a power extension cable too.

You could but only the DMS HDD Explorer supports disks which are smaller than 40GB - so unless you have a DMS3, you have to use a 40GB+ drive. They also don't have many uses at the moment. Unless you have the Linux kit of course. For example, you have to have a Network Adapter (pretty obvious), You cannot load games to HDD (bar JAP FF XI), You cannot save to HDD and you cannot swap saves from MC to HDD. Nor does it show up in the browser screen, so until someone can crack the bios which Sony puts on their HDD, and allow it to be flashed to a conventional drive, there is pretty much no use to it as of yet :(
