I have fitted my smart chip pro 2 nights ago. My ps2 (PAL/UK) works fine and boots back up PSone games no problem using the reset trick. But for some reason when i try and load up FFX-2 US original and any other PS2 US game I takes me straight to the red disc error screen.

Has anyone got any sugestions?

you still need to use the boot method as used with DVD games to get original PS2 games woring - i.e. eject insert eject - leave to boot from browser. or power up with reset insert game hit reset between games etc.

If no DVD back up or original works then I suggest the install was bad.
