Where is the best/cheapest place to get a Messiah 2 PRO chip for a V7 PS2.

I am in the south-west.

Cheers!

I would go to www.modchips.cc they have Messiah 2 (not sure which version though) and a Duo chip.

I would recommend the Duo chip because its only $19 with free shipping and its only 17 wires to solder. Ive installed one and its still running great according to my friend.

If id have a choice Id still go with the Duo for a v7. Cause really there is no difference between the two.

Try Dust2Dust in these forums (he's my mate btw so I'm biased).

I have reservations about fewer wires - i.e. with fewer wires, less data can be monitored and thus there is more scope for freezing and other unwanted effects. Not that they'll happen often - but happen the probably will.

Have you installed one of these chips Chuck?

Also the messiah chip www.modchips.cc is selling I do believe its a clone. I cant prove what Charlie has stated but it does kinda makes sence. However I have installed quit a few Duo's as of late and they are working great. But the Apple pro is just as good and becoming my favorite chip even though it has more wires. By the way does any one know if the team that makes the Duo and the Apple are the same? They both have alot of similarity's.

modchips.cc does not sell real Messiah's only the HK version - they do sell DUO though - and I can recommend them as decent people to deal with!

As to the instability...

Never had any problems with DUO - ever! but can't say the same with Messiah...

Heard fewer wires may be a possible problem with V8 onwards when using DVD-RW but the DUO is only for V1-7 anyway so <shrug>

I would go the DUO

hmm...

Seems people like the DUO more. But hasn't the Messiah 2 PRO got more options etc?

I also have to be able to turn the chip off, for online play.

DUO can be disabled same way - hold reset for 5 seconds!

Messiah has no extra options - the Messiah like the DUO, Apple Pro and MagicV is only a game booting chip no more no less.

With the budget move to not include an onboard crystal - I really can not see why they cost so much or why somebody would prefer them. Hence the instability that can occur on V5/6 stations when using the M2.

Can you tell me the best cd's/dvd's to use for a V7.
As I have ordered my DUO mod chip, and my Pioneer A06.

Cheers

The majority of the people here have success with Ritek DVDR.

I personally use Verbatim DataLife Plus cdr's.
